    Hello,

I used the search feature but did not find any solution so I hope I'm not the only one with this problem.

After installation of NOD32 on my WinXP SP2 machine I don't seem to have any internet connection anymore. Although my DSL modem is working and connected to the PC.

    Any help would be appreciated.

What settings did you install with?

Is it just web browers that can't load?

Windows Key + R, Type Cmd, Then do ping google.com and tell me what happens.

Default install. No internet connection, so also the mail client doesn't connect to the mailserver.

    What modem do you have?
Can you log into your modem via your browser?

    Repair Winsock
Windows XP SP2 and XP SP3

    Goto Start –> Run
    type cmd and click OK.
    Type netsh winsock reset
Press ENTER . Restart immediately !

N.B. ! There is a space between the commands , example netshSPACEwinsockSPACEreset

If this doesn't help , tell us what happens if you try pinging google.com or microsoft.com , does it make any difference if you uninstall NOD32 ?

Before one goes tearing into core commands and uninstalling things, lets just check to see if EKRN.EXE actually has firewall access to all the ports it needs

    inbound TCP on 30606
    UDP DNS
    outbound TCP on 0-65535

Then check your applications to make sure they have access to outbound localhost TCP on 30606

I uninstalled before posting and after restarting Internet connection is back..So I reinstalled and lost connection again. Did do a google search and encountered a unser with simular experience. There WinsockFix was recommended. But i'm a bit hesitant to use this as I don't know what it does.

netsh winsock reset is a standard fix for various bits & pieces (some registry entries, lsp etc)
But I am at a loss to understand how EAV's proxy set up has caused your problem.

As your PC works without EAV installed then the winsock fix is not needed, and if you installed EAV (stops working) and then applied the winsock fix the chances are that you would have to re-install EAV and so on.
