Its the plain Vista theme with this userstyle: Firefox 3 - Vista Theme (All Black)

You can install the style using the Stylish extension or you can copy the code to your userContent.css file.

Yes, that where I got it from. Nice detective work, WSFuser.

Why has firefox3 removed the yellow address bar when visiting secure pages?.That was a good idea i thought and stood out when the site was secure.I miss that already.

Not only is the yellow address bar missing, the padlock has gone missing as well. Just a small one at the bottom of the screen. Also when you click on it to verify the security certificate level nothing happens. I always checked on this when visiting a supposedly secure site for the first time. Surprising how many don't have an acceptable level certificate :thumbd:

Tried paypal.com, still dosn't bring up the yellow bar and lock but I noticed that when I tried amazon.co.uk/my account the favicon changed so I tried clicking on that and got all the info I wanted and more. Very nice but I still wish they had kept the yellow address bar.
Sorry if I seem a bit behind with finding out all the new things in FF3 but I've been a bit short of spare time. Hopefully explore it a bit more over the weekend.

Regarding performance: Has anybody tried comparing FF3 and Opera using, e.g., http://webwait.com/ ? I haven't since I'm a FF addict so I haven't installed Opera. I'm nevertheless interested in the results.;)

Thanks! Have you made sure that in both browsers JS was enabled/disabled? I guess it also makes a difference whether, e.g. Adblock Plus is installed.

    You're welcome.

JS enabled on both, no Adblock Plus.

    Who cares
It depends on the websites. For instance, wilders opens in 0.3s in firefox and 0.5s in Opera, youtube opened in 11s in firefox and 24s in opera, while dailymotion opened in 30s in opera and 40s in firefox, myspace opened in opera in 15s and 30s in firefox.... So it does depend on the websites.

True. I tried it on 5 sites and while times did vary, Opera consistently beat out FF each and every time. At least on my system.

Im not quite convinced everythings better yet.I seem to have to click links more than once for a page to load.In fact clicking reply to your post took 2 attempts before i could compose this.Wen that doesnt happen things are definitely faster.I still think the yellow bar was an improvement over the almost indistinguishable favicon and minute padlock though.

If you really want the yellow bar, use this style: Change URL bar security colors

And then change "lightgreen" to "#f5f6be".

You can also change the colors for Low Security and Broken Security.

Just tried webwait - thanks tlu

using Opera, Firefox and IE the 1st time was alawys the slowest - presumably some sort of disk cache is at work ? do I need to turn anything off to test ?

Using my mail provider www.netaddress.com I found IE the fastest 1.2 sec ave, Firefox next at 1.37 and finally Opera the slowest at 1.42

Not sure how best to use the time saved :D

I thought this may be worth a mention in case anyone else is having problems installing addons and getting 203 errors.
Threatfire was causing these errors, once protection was suspended then all of my extensions could be installed.

There was no warning coming from Threatfire of any activity and all settings were on default.

I installed FF3. Some addons didn't work. Ok I guess. Then I wanted to "sort by name" for the bookmarks by using right click in the bookmarks menu but that has been removed it seems.
FF3 uninstalled. If they decide to remove that I doubt they have added anything good.

Just read about the yellow bar and secure sites. FF3 seems to be just a worse browser than it was before.
I bet they still haven't fixed so that "Do this automatically for files from now on" actually works. They just blamed the webadmins instead of fixing it.

If I go Bookmarks/Organize Bookmarks/Unsorted Bookmarks RM I can sort by name.
    alternately Ctrl+Shift+B

If you find that your favorite item from FF2 isn't where it was in the new FF3, it doesn't mean it's gone. Look in the Help Contents and you'll probably find it re-configured in a better way in a different spot or replaced with a better idea.
