While using this firewall, I have to answer alot of questions in the beginning.
I know that this firewall must be storing my answers somewhere, I just don't know where and in which objects.

My intention is to copy these objects to somewhere else to make a quicker re-installation and configuration possible without doing it manually all over again.
Smarter softwares allow you to export these answers, but I don't find such an export function in this firewall.

Is there a member at Wilders, who can give me advice ? I need minimum the name of these objects. Thanks in advance.

sygate stores the answers to the popups in the Application list:Tools: Applications.

To export your Advanced Rules select Tools:Advanced Rules: once the Advanced Rules is up select the file menu and select Export Selected Rules.

To import the rules select the import option.

Thanks for your reply. Keep in mind, I'm an unadvanced newbie concerning firewalls. :)
Yes, I know this, but I can't export them, so in which file is the application list stored ? It has to be somewhere on my harddisk.

Because I didn't use Advanced Rules yet, I didn't know there was an import/export function. I found them now and that should solve my problem regarding advanced rules.

Sygate stores all it's information in the .DAT files in the Sygate directory. Just copy them to a safe place and you're good. You can reinstall Sygate from scratch, then copy back the .DAT files, and your previous configuration will be there in all respects, rules (if any), apps, settings, etc etc.

Yes, that was my conclusion too after looking at the objects in the Sygate folder (mainly dates) and reading the Activity Log of FDISR, which reported changes in these .DAT-files.

Thanks alot anyway, because it's always good for me to have a confirmation of my own conclusions, I'm not good and uncertain in technical things. :)

    Hi,

some personal informations are stored here:
    HKEY_USERS\.DEFAULT\Software\Sygate Technologies, Inc.
It contains infos about registration, email-address etc.

BTW 5.5.2710 was always my favorite build, simply the best, never had any problem.
But even with the 5.6 builds I only had a problem once with a corrupted dat file.

    Cheers

Yes but my registration contains absurd info and I used "phone@home.et" as email-address.
