Ahhh. The Rustock and other rootkit reference that I have come to love so well. I would surmize from what research that I have found, that a-squared Anti-Malware's IDS would be a great deterent for rootkits to invade ones system, thus rendering the need to find one with an On Demand scan. Of course if a rootkit would get through a-squared's IDS, then that's where SAS "Free" comes in, as your now infamous Rustock and other rootkit reference implies.

a-squared always ran a little heavy for me. I only had 512MB of RAM at the time though. Also I have had great success with SAS in cleaning up my sons PC after he downloaded some program from the internet. SAS cleaned everything up that Avast 4.7, although an AV, couldn't. After that I was sold.

You've said that you are not confident that the latest definition set was used when scanning. The tester has logs available for you that will answer that question.

When we receive and harvest tens of thousands of samples per week, we have to prioritize what to process - so we handle the zero-day threats and the most harmful items as top priority - in this game, there is no possible way to catch everything big and small everyday - it's much different than any other type of industry/job.

As for referrals - we get thousands per day because we clean up systems and offer top notch support to our users.

I say take all this money the users are spending, hire out a programmer, tell him you want a custom non-ms operating system with 3rd party options (3rd party Options being Budweiser and hemp plant testing)

For the end user, the amount of dollars spent would probably fair out the same and they would be much more secure and a dam site happier. :p
