Wow is my reaction to the latest restore that I did today.

Running T11 and Vista on a Dell.
    WD external HD.
It took all of 15 to 20 minutes to Restore up my Puter from
the External. Backed up about 30G for 2 partitions and
    they are working fine.
Reason for restore is I put Ubuntu on and tried it and decided I didn't want to put up with the huge learning curve necessary. Maybe Ubuntu will get their act together in about 5 years.
    Thanks Acronis

Ubuntu is a terrific operating system, well worth the learning curve. I have Ubuntu 7.10 on this machine, a Pentium III maxed out at 256 MB of memory and a 60 gig hard drive. The fact that Ubuntu runs so well on this very old clunker is a testament to how exellent an OS it is.

There are some learning curves to get through with Ubuntu. And they're worth learning. Ubuntu is not anywhere near as buggy as any version of Windows. I've had Ubuntu on this PC for about 2 months now and have not had a single crash. Not one. Nada. I've never been able to say anything close to that about any version of Windows I've used -- and I've used all of them since Windows 3.1 except for ME (thank God I missed that one).

Shankle - I second the recommendation to learn Ubuntu - it will teach you a lot about computers and software that will be directly applicable to understanding Windows better. Give yourself time and take it slowly. I've been running Kubuntu for 3 years now and it has taught me a lot.

TomZCat - I agree that Ubuntu is very reliable, but in my experience so are Windows XP and Vista. In fact, over the past 3 years XP has proven slightly more reliable than Linux on my PCs. My most stable OS experience has been with Vista, but it only extends back over a 16 month period. So far, zero lockups or crashes.

Remember, all software has bugs, even Linux.

I'm not knocking Ubuntu. If I had the time I think it would be a profitable thing to do.
However, I have another drawback with Ubuntu. I do a little programming and it just isn't worth the trouble to try to migrate those programs to Ubuntu. A user probably wouldn't want to go through the Wine hastle.

Ububtu also took over the controlling of the partitions and
I already have a better program to partition and do the resizing etc.

Maybe a suggestion for the people answering questions on the forums. They assume to much. I was asking how to change a partition name in Grub and never could make their instructions work.
    Thanks for your comments.

I have no words for that... That is impressive as all get out. I like Windows - I like Vista a lot better than XP. I have had Vista for over a year but I can't come close to your record.
