I bought ESS week ago for 2 years. Some days ago Smart security started to say that my password and user name are invalid. And the update fails. Checked it many times. It's the codes that I got trought email from eset. ESS says that the License is valid until 2010. What gives?

Already tried the ESET support from the program but I haven't had contact from them and It's been over 2 days already.

The av definion that ESS has is 3118. So I guess I'm lucky I dodged that bad issue with those virus definitions. I don't have to install any games or programs again and I can normally boot up the pc. :D

I noticed that you can't configure the program at all if you are using a normal user account in Vista like you are supposed to (or how microsoft recommends it). So you can't configure the firewall either this is bit dumb. I think ESS should work with a normal user account also not just a admin account. Isn't it possible to make it ask for the admin account password when you configure the firewall or change settings? Now if you try to change the setting as normal user in Vista ESS just says: "Not enought user privileges". I have the Vista UAC also enabled. I think this issue should be solved in future versions.

where did you purchase from? Take the matter up with your reseller and it will be sorted out promptly.

The biggest cause of problems WE have - it customer's not reading the email they are sent - because - our online store emails a temporary license immediately the payment posts against the order - this is because Eset's ordering system does NOT have a direct interface, so our orders can not be submitted immediately, or even automatically into the Eset system.

Then - during the work-week, we continually process orders into Eset's order-bot and it spits out the licenses to the client - we update our database and send the final license out to the client - this happens about every 3-4 hours during weekends and holidays.

The temporary license is to get the customer going IMMEDIATELY - but is designed to cover a period of at most, 12 hours.

However - with the new renewal rules in place - there are instances where customers have attempted to renew for more licenses than they originally purchased, or attempted to "combine" separate licenses within a single renewal -that cause the Eset ordering system to "choke" - then it can take a while to get the matter fixed - the temporary license is perfect for covering these situations, so that customers are NOT unprotected during the time it takes to get their licensing issues resolved.

We get 2 customers a day (on average) complaining that their license has stopped working - after a little digging it is clear they still have the temporary code that was emailed.

To be fair - the subsequent emails can go missing due to SPAM filtering -but I fail to understand how the similarly auto-generated temporary license email can get through, while later emails generated by Eset and by our ordering engine get lost... but I can believe that it MIGHT happen this way.

Customers who have purchased from us can ALWAYS login to their account and retrieve the license details on ANY of their orders (and we have customers with many tens of separate orders - all of which can be accessed from within their account) - try doing that with Eset's ordering system!! ;)

    Bought it from www.eset.com.

Nothing in the email from eset indicates that the password and username are temp.

Still dosn't work. No contact from eset.. and my pc is without up-to date virus protection. Not good. Not good at all.

    Spam folder is empty.

Tried the "Lost license" thing in eset.com. No confirmation email from there either. Have I been scammed?

Could you please PM me your full name and email address so that I can provide you with a temporary license and ask my colleagues in the US to check if they received your order fine?

Checked my credit card account. The purchase shows there ok.

It seems the purchase from www.eset.com went trough site called netsuite.com.

I can't even log on to www.eset.com with my email and password which you had to do so you could do the purchase.:thumbd:

Still no contact from eset. And you can't even download the virus definitions manually..

ESS now updates with the username and password that Marcos gave me. But how long does those work? I need to know what happened to my original purchase. I bought a 2 year for 2 computers of ESS subscription.

My credit card account (Visa) shows the purchase ok. I made the purchase directly from www.eset.com. First I made the account for the store. And made the purchase. Received 2 emails, first the confirmation about the purchase from @eset.com and second the password and username for the ESS from @eset.sk email address.

Now I can't login to ESET store at www.eset.com. I have tried directly clickin the address which came with the @eset.com confirmation email.
    It starts https://checkout.netsuite.com/blaablaablaa
No luck, it says: "No such user etc." When I try to retrieve lost password with my email (I guess if I misstypet it) it says: "The supplied email has not been registered as a customer at our Web store." But I made the account to there when I purchased the damn thing!

    o_O

What the  I'm supposed to do now?

ESS now updates it self with the password Marcos gave me, but how long? I need my real username and password to work. I can't even download the ESS client from the "download purchased software link" from eset site with that username and password eset first gave me. So it seems its not valid?
Funny that it worked first, but then stopped. And ESS showd then License valid until XXXX 2010. Now it doesn't show that.

Just tried by entering the first password and username I got for ESS, it still says "Invalid Username and/ or Password". Wrong wrong wrong! And same time in the main page it says "License valid until XXXX 2010". LOL o_O

Help me out here. I mean soon I'm gonna lose it, go crazy, nuts, insane, bonzo, no longer in possession of one's faculties, three fries short of a happy meal…WACKO!

Just to make sure, are you from the USA? There are some problems with this license that would occur if one purchases a license from the US website but actually he's from another country. I have asked the sales department to look into the issue. The temporary license is valid long enough, you should hear from the sales dep. shortly.

I'm not from USA. Europe. When I made the purchase from eset.com store. I had no idea that it's only for USA? o_O

I remember clearly there was a choosebox where you could check your country, and mine was there. In the store I mean..
