I'm in charge of a institute and we have several PCs affected, WinXP SP2, signature 3125. They still freeze after 1-2hours.
(we did the restores, reinstalled Adobe Products and deleted the files like recommended from ESET)

    Any further help?

    -----
And I sold all the licenses to this institute claiming, that we rather pay something to the good ESET product instead of taking mcafee which is given us for free.....

Have you already restarted the computers?

Please do the following to get your machines back. Reboot into safemode (after the post screen hit F8 immediately) choose safe mode or safe mode with networking. Once into Windows, right click on the My Computer icon and select Manage. Find Services and Applications at the bottom and expand it and click Services. Find the Eset services and change their startup type to Disabled.

    Reboot

Once into Windows uninstall NOD32 completely and reboot.

Re-install, configure and run updates. You shouldn't have any further problems

If someone still experiences problems with the system freezing, you can either:

    1, delete the content of the "C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\ESET\%ProgramName%\Charon" (on Vista it's in c:\Users)

2, update ESS/EAV and restart the computer

    Either should fix the problem.

just updating worked for 160/167 computers here. There were a handful that for whatever reason had to be reinstalled.

I sure hope that the instructions given work on my work PC, I have had to shut off and restart my PC at least 6 times the last 24 hours, lost over an hour rebooting and doing CHKDSK's.

I have tried this and found that the system STILL freezes. There's clearly something else going on that you haven't considered.

I uninstalled the Version 3 on all Computers (all version 3 Computers were freezing after booting when trying to make updates). Than I downloaded the Version 3.0.56 and installed that one. This seems to have eliminated the freezing on all computers.
    thanx and regards
