I liked Bitdefender 10 look over 2008. I quit using it on Vista after a number of problems I had after installing/uninstalling it.

If the 2009 version won't be as troublesome, I will try it out. Besides the problems, it's a good AV IMO.

Well we hope the product will be better in terms of interface and we also hope that it will please your needs. As for the back-up module I think the best thing is not to buy Total Security if you don't need it. You can always buy the Internet Security if you don't need all the features.

I personally don't enjoy to backup my personal computer so it could be a useless function for me too. But thing of less techy people that will use that to back-up their sensitive data. I'm the one that burns the sensitive data on DVDs archived and encrypted in archives.

So everyone has it's own style and own preferences like Nike_P doesn't like BitDefender. :argh:

    P.s.

Please report any other problems with BETA sign-up in a PM.

dam* you Bitdefender team - guys are really confused.
I just wanna say that TRUST ME Esox , you wish that it was just me, i know thousands of people that are not happy with bitdefender product, support, and everything that has to do with Bitdefender.
And we all waited for the beta to be released today Monday since their team-support said it, now they delay until Thursday, all i can say: this reaction has always been showing from bitdefender.
The development says something else, some other support are not agree with each other.
According to me and many other users Bitdefender is a JOKE company!.

So do you really think that every other software companies beside Bitdefender, do not delay things?! Do you really it's just BitDefender that says one day, but then it gets dealyed to another? You have to open your eyes up, and look. Or at least get glasses. Are you blind, or stupid, or do you just act like one?

Joke company? Come on, grow up. You act like a little child. I get irritated to read your posts.

    I'm sorry, but get real.

    I disagree with Nike P...
I think BitDefender is a serious company but I think they need to improve support, samples-response adding...
I told all these thing to Cristina Dutu (from BitDefender team) and to SUpport years ago (2006) but I was ingored... I stoped sending samples to BitDefender because I got frustrated.
I think BitDefender can improve but they need to want to improve... I really don't saw it in the last years...
From good to poor detection... Many users talking about a support that ignore customers...
BitDefender needs to prove that is really interested in be better...

Hmmmm... and I like BitDefender design/screen...

:thumb: I really thought I could leave this alone but. Bitdefender was my first.;) Beta to.:thumb: Going from 8 to 9. ~Comment removed.~ Had just been reviewed number 1 by Consumers Reports, which isnt much, well, maybe it is when you look at the crappy testing now.

But they screwed up. ~Comment removed.~
Bitdefender instead of going back and fixing bugs to ensure for stability, started to look ahead. Cant do that without a stable foundation. And they are still trying to figure it out.

Bitdefender, sometimes you have to look back at what worked, to fix for the future. The AV, AV and Firewall, and Suite were the best 3 stand alone products offered by anyone at the time, and you bailed on them. I really hope the best, I signed up to help, but have burned to many bridges internally. They still are really the best, if they can ever figure out how tp stick a round peg, in a square hole and market it.:thumb:

Well said trjam! BD was once my fave, and on occasion I re-trial it to see how it is doing. I did so recently and agree with you in their "backwards-momentum." Maybe someday they will replace my preference for...

I tried to send some samples to BitDefender in the last days and the "reaction-time" is still tooooo big. If Softwin wants to talk seriously will need to proof it and be better in many ways that are not acceptable actually.
Otherwise I won't try the BETA and many users won't too...

Where did you send them? I found out that posting them on the forum goes alot faster than submitting them to their email support address where they seem to get lost for days.

That said, that won't prevent me at all from trying the beta and erporting bugs.

the reality is, the price of their AV by itself is really hard to beat for the protection. They really dont get a fair shake here from all of us, me included. If they can tweak some things for 2009 they can reclaim their spot again. I have been trying the AV and no issues.

What's the resource usage like trjam?

Just checked out the product costs and seems to be very competitive.

i would like to test this new beta version.
It should be released last week but as usual Bitdefender delay , and i dont know why or when it will be released?
i love to test beta of kaspersky and other AV's as well.
But i don't like when BD says it will be released but it never does, it was the same with old version's last year and has always been like this.
    Can anyone explain what's happening?

If nothing goes wrong today you'll have the beta kit available. The ones that already registered will receive an email when the kit will be available.

    Thank you for your patience.

Can you provide the quote/link of who, inside bitdefender, said it would be released yesterday or the day before? Thought so.

What was said though, is that they want to realease a solid beta with as minimum bugs as possible and that was why it wasn't released for testing yet.

Yes, on their forum someone from BD posted it will be released yesterday and then another guy posted the day before that beta kit will be released but it hasn't.

I read their board daily and didn't saw it, but after rereading the thread I stand corrected. I see that Rudy did say yesterday that it would be release that day. Missed that post, but he corrected himself later on saying the dev team told him it wouldn't be so.

But, as we speak, it really seems it will eb relased today. The main beta page was changed and I see new folder appearing in the donwload directory :D
