Hi, I am using Windows xp sp2 with 768MB Ram. Today when i turned winamp to listen music. I used the browse button to select the respected drive and play the track, But when i pressed the button Browse, I was shocked and saw only 2 drives visible. The rest others weren't visible at all. This happens with every application when i choose browse only 2 drives are displayed. When i open My computer all drives are displayed. Kindly provide me the solution

Are the other drives in question external drives o_O If so check your USB connection, and check to see if they are present in the Windows Device manager

    Click Start
Right Click My Computer, and click properties
Click Hardware Tab,and click Device Manager
Click on the + sign of the Disk drives and check to see if the other drives are present. If they are not, then I suspect that the USB connection isnt connceted. Unplug the drives, and reboot, then plug back in the drives, and windows should tell you its found New Hardware :)

Have you reinstalled Winamp? does the same happen after rebooting your computer? There could be a driver problem, try updating the hard drive drivers, other than that I would use the system restore, or repair option using windows CD as there might be a dll. file that has become corrupt in the search function.

Looking at the screenshot, it would appear that the 2 unknown partitions 4.76GB and 957MB are not formatted as they are 100% free, what are they used for o_O

Looks to me like the filesystem's gotten corrupted on all the missing drives. Try accessing the drives when you see them in "My Computer". If that doesn't work, then I'm 100% sure its a corrupt filesystem.

Now the solution to such a problem, other than a total disk wipe (i.e. formatting) is beyond me...:doubt:

Did you label all of your partitions, "krishnan"?

Have you tried chkdsk /f on your C: drive?
