This update fixes the bug with non-working proxy settings.

For video the best are the following corean media players; make all the others to seem like bad jokes. :p
    GOM Player
    ALShow

for audio very nice is ALSong .It supports the display of lyrics. Handy for a caraoke evening.

Question for you WinAmp users- does WinAmp load a lot of the AOL stuff on your computer? I am talking about the normal aol stuff like Viewpoint with all the ads, tracking user info, phoning home regularly, etc?

    Hi acr1965 :)
Not as far as i am aware although it has got a little bloated over the years since i have been using it. You can of course always download a earlier build like version 3 from here which was a classic build

Thanks for the info. I may give the new version a spin as it looks intriguing enough. Would like to try the older, lighter version but I am on Vista and don't think it will be compatible.

After having some minor issues ripping cds,I went back to Quintessential Player(QCD).It has the player and encoder together rather than AIMP2's layout of player and utilities seperate.
    It works well.

I use AIMP2 for audio and WMP + Combined Community Codec Pack for video. This makes an effective, simple and fast video playback solution; and AIMP2's audio quality is pretty good. Not to mention the video quality from ffdshow on WMP after tweaking the settings of ffdshow! :)

Two other players I really liked are Spider Player (http://www.spider-player.com) and the "veteran" Winamp. :)

I use Zoom Player, along with Combined Community Codec Pack, when watching fansubs. When watching DVDs, I use Windows Media Player (though I rarely watch DVDs on the computer).

I Think The Core is up there with the best/if not The best ,I been using it for quite a while now and never had any drama. http://www.corecoded.com plus its freeware but you need an AC3 Audio codec + Divx & Xvid (running Koepi's Xvid here) all of which can be found here http://www.free-codecs.com/
Be interested to see what you think :D
