I agree, a company so desperate for attention that they pull such PR stunts is a great joke.

Well, sure it's much better to detect any packed file, a cure is a problem for users, not for an AV. And as I see here, users agree with such methods, they get ready back-up images... :'(

however, its great news for drwebs lab, to not only detect this
mystery bad boy, but to also cure the machine too.

Again, choosing my words carefully to whom it may concern :D

i assume that if these files are from 3rd quarter of 2007 then there are 'following' new variants of Rustock (D etc) which by the way i understand this 'fuzz' are totally invisible ? :)

I see that Duke Nukem has re-appeared with his cool comments. Go to bed, Duke should only appear "when it's done".

Users having Avira installed won't need cure. Dtected, blocked. ;)
For the others maybe a cure will be available.

I don't think we will encounter this "threat "even if we look for it.I ask for my av to protect me for the real threats.Avira does a good job IMO so does Dr.Web and many others,i don"t know why they needed to create this fuss .

Well, after reading this thread I'm sufficiently impressed by Dr.Web. Since I've run into some problems with AVG that support tells me will be fixed in the next program update, I'll just be using various antivirus trials until then (man, reading these message boards really does that to you), and first on the list is Dr.Web.

PS: I don't understand why some people are crowing about how well their antivirus detects and so they don't need a cure. Especially when that detection came six months late. Maybe they should download a copy of CureIt! just to be sure. :argh:

    I do like the sounds of the beep...Antivir Blocks..ty WebWasher...Beep...File deleted...TY Antivir.

If you cant get it to my machine, however will it be installed, through the stealth ninja skills used to hide its availabilty?

I suppose some so young with freedom would want the whole world,it is this thats understandable from here as we take this freedom for granite.

I wonder then why the detection was not added by any AV vendor so far?

if this was the case, all vendors would offer paranoid protection, it doesn't seem very hard work to detect all packed files as malware.

high detection rates and no cures for everyone. :thumbd:

I realize most wont agree, but to me, cleaning is just as important as detecting. Left behind remnants are know to cause issues.
