NEW VERSION OF OUTPOST RELEASED TODAY

Hi

I was on the agnitum website and noticed a new version of outpost pro firewall 2008 has been released.
I was wondering if anyone has downloaded or tried out this new version yet, but maybe it is to early for people to have tried it yet.
I am running outpost pro firewall version 6.0.2284.253.0485 and it runs very well on my system, no issues that I have noticed so far.
I have been using outpost pro since version 2.0 and I am just wondering if this new version works as well as the last one.

The following issues are resolved (only significant ones are listed):

* No prompt for system restart after drivers deinstallation
* Outpost could sometimes crash on starting processes
* Databases update issues

I agree with you, I have tried many versions from V6 (and before the official v6 release) but each time, too many bugs.
Since the last version, it works very well, I am very satisfied with it; I have changed firewall from Jetico V2 to Outpost V6.

You are very welcome, If you look at this link you will see agnitum have released a much newer build to matousec for testing, so they must have many more improvements to come, in up and coming builds.

This is the newer build released to matousec for testing.
Outpost Firewall Pro 2008 6.0.2302.264.0490 scored 91% and has a Protection level rating of Excellent.
Just goes to show that with there help, agnitum will be trying to make this a much more improved firewall and more secure for us all.

I see that there are already two fan with Outpost in this forum.
it's 'make stain' compared to the horde with Comodo's fans.

 

Yes I know what you mean, many people are now using comodo firewall, but for me I will stay with outpost, runs great with no probs on my system.
There are many people complaing about outpost and the different issues that have arisen with the 2008 version, but that is to be expected, as no two systems are the same and people experience different issues and this is also the same for lots of different programmes including comodo, but with more time I am sure outpost will become a great firewall for us all to use in the near future.

I used Outpost since v2 off *& on tho & usually with ESET's nod32, I had been using their suite but the firewall is not very good & I lost my license from look n stop & I've pestered them enough about recoving it so I will try this new version & I do can get this license from their web page...new computer so it will be interesting how it works on their thanks for the headsup on the new version...

I don't really know what to say. For some people it works very well, for another, not at all.
The best I can advise you is to try. Another council staff, if not already the case: use a program like 'Acronis True Image' or another.
Like that, you can test and return to the previous state without any problem in a few minutes, in case.

There is no perfect firewall software; some works very well on one machine but not on another, some slowdown the network flow; some of them have compatibility problems with some soft, etc, etc.

 

I didn't like the combination Firewall + Anti-Spyware in Outpost.
I also noticed that one of the Outpost softwares (FW or AV) created two hidden objects in my Data Partition : OP_CACHE.ATR and OP_CACHE.IDX in each data folder. I'm still deleting them.

 

If you have 3rd party Anti-Spyware, Outpost disables its own for Compatibility reasons, so theres no need to delete

 

If that was true, I wouldn't have to delete them, but they are there and won't disappear by themselves. I don't have any scanner anymore and no Outpost software either.
