firefox 2 and ram,200mb is normal??

    mantra - It's definitely faster, but not a huge improvement. You'll certainly notice it though.

    The main reason for the difference is that the other browsers could be considered company-created, while Firefox is open source software. As such, it's not going to be completely packaged like the others. Rather, it's open to other programmers for development and improvement. So it's a catch-22... there is more opportunity for adding features not found in other browsers, yet adding the features in actuality creates the potential of decreased usability in the sense of resource usage, etc.

    Thought it would be worth noticing that since I switched my antivirus I noticed Firefox memory usage is normal and it releases memory when you close unneeded tabs. Before I would have high memory usage (200+mb) even with one tab open and firefox just minimized in the task bar. This applied to FF2 and v3 as well. Now all is normal :)
    BTW, I switched from NOD32 to Kaspersky 8.

    Memory usage with FF 2 is fine here.May be some info below that may be of interest.
