This is not a versus thread, he simply made a statement which he felt was appropriate according to him. DO NOT turn this into another "My AV is _bigger_ than your AV" thread. [/OT]

This looks interesting I am wondering how the licensing will go seeing as I still have an unused key from 2006 for the AV! :p
I doubt I will ever switch unless they have this pretty gui in Linux and even then it is doubtful! :)

Lime the green up some or add a tad of fluorescent to it. The Army green is tiring. Seriously, you would not believe how many people are prejudice over their tray icons and their appearance. I know people who buy products just based on how the tray icon looks. Rising AV and ESS Suite are the hot 2 right now.

But Dr Web, just enhance the green and the GUI looks great.

seriously that was the most beautiful GUI i ever seen for any anti-virus.
Drweb seem to have the most finest GUI, if they keep that one after the pre-beta.
but how about their detection rates :p :) ?

the green is quite bright, i dont think i would like it any brighter.

slightly brighter than my images show.

its certainly not army green, dont worry there :)

    again, good good ;)

    V5 improves/should improve on detection :D

    Beautiful GUI, good ergonomics.

It indeed looks like a suite. I don't like suites; hope they also bring an "AV- only" on the market. I'll give the suit a try anyhow, you never know with the Doctor......

Hope they don't forget a button "restore to original location" in quarantine.

I miss the bloody Spider logo. Bring it back !

BTW What have Russians with green: Dr.Web, Kaspersky, System Safety Monitor ?

I know some girls who will not use Dr. Web, because the spider icon in the system tray grosses them out. Has that been changed?

the GUI is nice but I think it'll be vaporware a GUI does not make a product detection does. The doc is good in some areas like cureit but I find it hard to believe we will even see a beta this year perhaps next year this time. In requards to getting things together by the time the product is finally relased I'm sure someone will do it just as well...sorry if that offends anyone

The release of some alpha GUI screenshots is a very small step towards version 5 and a gold release is a LONG way off. Sometime next year seems more likely for the new version to finally appear.

Unfortunately, because of their small size as a vendor, Dr Web will always be playing catchup with some of the bigger companies. For example, if released in 2009, it will be lacking some sort of behaviour blocker capability that is in KAV at the present time and soon to be in Avira.

Apart from the fancy GUI I hope Dr Web 5 brings improvements in their core engine, detection rates and the speed of their scanner.

KAV's behavior blocker is very troublesome, many people I know turn it off because of too many useless alerts. My friend's teacher uses KAV on his laptop, and when he puts his CD in to give a presentation to the class KAV always squeals like a slaughtered pig and pops up a yellow alert, even though the CD was provided by the Ministry of Education and is virus free.

I hope Dr. Web will not include a behavior blocker, because people just want to know whether a file is clean or not and not have to guess.

The spider logo will be gone!?
    This is unacceptable!

PS: I keep the CureIt icon on my desktop, it is cool :p

AFAIK Dr.Web said it will include something "better" than a behaviour blocker....My impressions of this pre-alpha is that it looks "interesting" but dunno, it still kinda looks dull to me. In any case, one will need to see the final product before making any conclusion! So far it looks good on a technical level though.

And BTW yes, I liked the little spider icon :D

BTW, the name "eidolon" looks familiar. Hexen II? :D

Thanks Chris! The GUI is beautiful! So clean and easy. And for those who are complaining that v5 are still some time away, at least we got an update on this now. So don't worry - be happy.

    Looking forward to it.

I want a big angry black/green spider in my System Tray with red eyes flashing everytime there is an alert or sth.

    You know, Tray Animation.

I don't, it would distract me too much, I just want the GUI edited and functions edited and refined and more off course, without editing the spider.
Why else would it be green and called Dr Web?
