Hi, i heard alot of people complaining about kaspersky those last weeks.
They say it´s slow and they dont comment any good about it.
But i do remember before everybody used Kaspersky, they said it has best detection and it is the fastest antivirus.
    What happend :( ?
i really feel sorry for KAV.

I would have to agree with your statement. Just recently i tried the latest kaspersky internet security on my laptop and it didn't perform that well. Its not a slow laptop either, 2.4ghz core 2 duo, 3gig ram, 200gig 7200rpm hdd and windows xp.

    Hi,

A "Gold beta tester" wrote before the release of 321:
"If the product will be released in the current state, I will simply stay with 7.0.0.125 and wait for V8.0."
And about broken communication to the developers and that v8 is much more important than MP1 etc.

Now with KIS 2009 beta they released three different builds of RC1 in a row. o_O

    Cheers

It may not be the best but it has a pretty good detection rate if I remember correctly. And if you want to use a security suite, it's firewall is actually pretty decent. I installed it on my parent's Vista computer and it definitely affects the performance when it is scanning. But I think for the average users who has 0 interest in studying computer security it is a good choice.

    Don't feel bad.
Everyone is entitled to use and test what ever they like.
If you like Kaspersky please do use it but if you don't than please don't use.

And as Macstorm just said, the latest beta version is pretty smooth.

    @subset
That's just the way Kaspersky does it's beta testing. Some vendors wait a couple of weeks with new builds. Kaspersky does it more often with some good changes

I have aslo had very many problems with Kaspersky. I'm loosing internet connection now and then, slow boot and surfing on internet, internet pages hangs, scanner hangs, and the program stops working. After a few days, I jsut had to uninstall it. Not impressed at all! Kaspersky will not come on my computer again, until version 8 arrives.

I bought version 5, then upgraded to 6, thought both were a solid program, particularly when the registry protection was enabled.

After upgrading to version 7 (not sure which build number), startup was extremely slow. Wasn't impressed at how bloated it seemed.

I'll also wait for version 8.

Seriously, I can think of many vendors who would deserve the OP's sympathy a lot more.

Running KIS build 8.0.0.314 and it runs well.
Not yet perfect (beta), but still a big improvement. :)

Will see how it behaves in the next coming days.

Problems with security apps can always occur.
I had my share of that.
Bugs are always possible, so new releases can fix those bugs or break it.
Nothing new here, it applies to all apps. :doubt:

Hope this new version will get them back on track. :thumb:

Version 7 of KIS runs fine on my system, and I only have 224MB RAM with a 1.7g CPU. RC1 of v8 runs a bit slower in startup, but is generally fine in day-to-day operation.

All these products will have ups and downs, nature of updating their product. Version 8 will overcome the current problems, version 9 might improve, then 10 might have slow downs again.

Also, it's always going to depend on what other programs you're running.

On another note, good to see Mr Kaspersky actually posts on his forums. Gets feedback first hand. Always been a fan of the russians. :D

I did have problems with vers 7.0.325. However, with the recent RC builds of version 8 all those problems seem to have gone. Plus Hips functionality for Vista finally. Plus a lot more decisions is taken care off automatically, e.g. for firewall, virus removal (similare to NIS), which also makes it recommendable to unexperienced PC users. I am very very much impressed so far with ver 8. Seems we finally get the undoubtebtly high detection rate Kaspersky is known for with finally more useability and less problems. So no need to feel bad :) Sometimes a bit of criticism can provide incentives to do much better, and it seemed to work in this case.

(Look at Eset, they've always got so many compliments and look what became of ESS...)

Am running Version 7 Build 325 and as far as I am concerned it is as light and responsive as version 6 and version 7 Build 125. In fact it is one of the most stable builds ever to run on my PC.

As ever I believe that one should not go entirely on what one hears but rather try for yourself. How it works on someone elses PC does not equate to how it will run on another.

Here we go again. Running the latest v8 build on my pC and I have inessant keylogger detection which I am sure is a bug as I have scanned with other softwarfe and nothing found. A couple of other testers have reported the same but for me v8 has a long way to go yet...but then again that is just re. my PC and is not necessarily indicative of how it will perform on another PC.:D

I'm still runnung .125 on my comp as .325 caused slow web browsing and some pages would hang until I clicked 2 or more times. Even stripped down FF to no add-ons all to no avail. I hope version 8 resolves this.
I know not all have these problems, but from checking various forums many do.

Surely there are a lot more things in this world that deserve your sympathy more!Besides you weren't just being mischievous were you and starting a pretty blatant trolling thread, one that seems to have got past the mods

(he does love Nike afterall) :D

    In my experience...
    KAV v5... slow and heavy
KAV/KIS v6 and v7... light, fast and effective... ONLY after doing initial scan
KISv7 MP1... Slow and had some issues at first, all of which were resolved with the Hotfix... now its just like previous versions... light, fast and effective

KIS v8 (beta)... Still developing of course, so will not comment until its released.

After upgrading to NOD 3.0 with about 3 months left on my subscription I decided to start trialing other AV's. On my old system, KAV and KIS had a very noticible impact on system performance. I've upgraded recently to a new system and am very happy running the latest KIS 7.0 build.

The new system you ask? AMD 64 X2 6000 3.0 GHz with 4GB RAM. It better run well!! :)

    ..and you may be right.
I only installed the 'file & web' modules so maybe i'm not seeing issues associated to the proactive module because of this. Anyway, if those 'bugs' are being reported in the beta stage they will surely be fixed in the next builds :)

It depends on the mods' preferences, if it's kaspersky then... go ahead! :D .....[joking] ;)
