bolleke3, Where in the world did you read such rubbish? PG makes absolutely no connection outside of your pc. Unless there is another app called procguard and not procguard.exe as developed by DiamondCS.

BTW if as you say you have uninstalled PG then if you still have a pocess guard folder then delete it as you have no further use for it, may also stop your popup

    @ Jason
I wonder if that popup-window referring to Program Files/PG and
instructing that the file was not found, really is created by PG.
If so,I suppose that you are familiar with the form of it and if not
so,it has nothing to do with PG and must be sort of malware.
Thank you for reading my posts!

Well I do not understand the above. IF you enabled "Close Message Handling" on Opera (did you?) then Process Guard may popup a window asking whether or not you want to close the window in question. Apart from this human interface dialog (which you have not taken a screenshot of and hence I guess you have never seen it in this context) there is no other Process Guard pop up.

So you will need to find a better way to explain what happens if you want me to help you with the question of "How Process Guard stops you from downloading files in Opera" . I have said that on my systems I can download files in Opera with Process Guard installed.

    Dear Jason,
Let me first tell you that I am 77 years old and possibly too old to
use a PC in a proper way:sorry for that.
Conc. Opera and "Close message handling",did not find that in the
preferences but changed there "File types" selecting all.
And,ho wonder,I could download (Don't ask me why!)
By one file got a warning that "Process Guard" was needed, but,
    that is no problem.
Thank you and all memberswho were so patient with me.
As for me,you may close or delete this thread.
    All the best

    don't speak so sadly :doubt:

it is just that no one has ever had your pb and that even by installing and testing ourselves Opera we can't reproduce your pb, so this is why we need to ask some questions, it isn't to bother you but to help you :)

I don't have any idea of the why, but i hope your pb will be solved.

EDIT : i think i have found the pb :)

(the following is a french translation, sorry if it doesn't match)

open explorer.exe, go to "tools" and "folder options"

    go to "type of files"

    browse until "HTML" and "HTM"

    click "Modify"

Select for both "opera.exe" in the browsing list

    click "OK", "Close"

May be now or after a reboot the pb will be solved :)

Ah! I may be seeing some light on your problem bolleke3 :) I think you may have a file association problem & somehow you have associated the wrong type of file to PG :)

By the look of it you have given process guard some preferences / associations to a certain kind of file type such as .html, i.e. what programme is needed to open such & such file type, therefore another programme looking for a way of opening that file type thinks PG should do it.
For instance we'll take an .html document as an example.
if you right click on any file type with the extension .html using windows explorer, Right click on the document, then select "open with" then "Chose program" you will get an "Open with" dialogue box listing all your programmes - Select an appropriate programme, in this case opera or IE Then tick the box "To always open this kind of file"

A good thing to do would be ensure that when you download something, you choose SAVE not "open"

This is because most things you download you would want to save, not open and then not have anymore. Perhaps this would be a good time to scan them too :)

    Morning everybody!
Still better news today:this time problem completely solved.
Got an advice at the Opera-Forum to check File Types under
Preferences;edited them and found one set to open with
Process Guard;changed that and everything ok now.
Suppose that PG made this setting at the install of the prog
and will see too to change that when I reinstall PG.
    Kindest Regards

Hi bolleke3, I don't think that PG would have changed those preferences.
The only change that it might have made it to add it's .log file to the association list for opening by a text editor, the default being Notepad.
Anyway we are happy that you have solved your problem. :D

BTW there will be a new more powerful release of Process Guard probably this week. :)

glad you worked it out, bolleke.. i have been reading a lot of posts lately about problems with downloading and installing programs after installing norton internet security, and i was going to suggest that maybe that was the problem..

    @redwolfe
Nothing of Symantec on my PC after bad experiences a couple of
    years ago
    @Pilly
In fact my "problem" wasn't a problem, just a lack of knowledge and
I should have known better if I would have gone more carefully
    trough my brower's helpfiles.
    Next time better (maybe)!
Looking forward for that new version of PG and not too powerful I
    hope (for dummies)
