Yes F-Secure is very consistent (little standard deviation) on a daily, weekly, or monthly basis. The top 4-5 tend to be near the top of the various time periods all the time. They are consistent in terms of the shadowserver tests.

At the risk of being accused of being a fanboy, I use whatever runs lightest on my machines and offers decent protection. Because of this criteria, I alternate between Avira and Dr. Web.

LOL I get called one of those all the time, but doesn't bother me the slightest ;)

As for drweb and shadowserver, they still refuse to use drweb 4.44 with the better heuristics, but still... Drweb usually.scores above 99% on a daily basis with the odd blip on rare occasions.

A lot of times the ones accusing are fanboys themselves-just not of your AV. :D

If they used 4.44, we would see even higher scores more than likely.

Yes we would see higher, as for bd and kaspersky, no idea what's happened there.

Having a preferred AV is not a crime.
    BUT
Attacking on the AV-Tests credibility, whenever your favorite AV scores not that high, is a crime.

From all the AV scanners I tried,
Avira AntiVir and Dr.Web have been the best (=lightest & most effective) for my setup.
I've tried most of the AV & AS scanners. For example, I am trying AVG 8.0 this period.
These statements come from someone who doesn't use the AV scanners to protect his setup. :D
I just use the AV/AS scanners to check my setup (always on-demand scanning).

    A last thing about Shadowserver:
They use Linux. As a result, there must be differences in the performance of various AVs
compared with the one under Windows.
Under Linux, some AVs require different settings from the ones under Windows (?)
This -Maybe- explains some 'unusual' results (e.g. KAV, BitDefender etc.).

I wonder if Kaspersky #'s are off, hard for me to believe but as they say anything is possible, I like F-secure runs ok & my wife's machine on my vista machine its a bit different, I tend to stick with Eset Smart security & SAS...I still have some other licenses but I usually default to eset...

If you look at the bottom of the shadowserver page, you will see that these results/data are pretty much outdated.

Hola, Chris. If you have a link, please share it.

Because of on-going discussion of shadowserver's data over HERE, I monitor those data regularly with the goal of making screenies whenever the date at bottom changes. The screenie I made last Nov (see below) reflects identical yearly data to what they still are showing. No change whatsoever? Deja vu all over again?
    ScrHnt4.gif

That ss does change the bottom date is shown by the shot (below) of "daily" entry. VERRRY confusing. Thus, an unchanged bottom date would logically indicate unchanged data. But... maybe I'm wrong (gasp)

i dont have a link for you, but patrik (i think) from F-secure was in the conversation, and asking his own questions to shadowserver.

the data changes daily, even on the yearly stats, i assure you :)

within the last month or weeks or whatever, you would have seen Avira jump ahead of Drweb on the yearly chart.

I don't know how valid the yearly stats are as a few of the listed products have gone through a major upgrade. Just look at the monthly stats and how different they are. If one tracks the yearly stats over time the improvement shows up as a gradual increase in the yearly stats.

As for the fan boys, the worlds best AV is [redacted].
