My License for AVG Anti Spyware is up for renewal. Is there a way to renew AS License only? Not interested in the AV or firewall!

    Hi,

AVG 8.0 product line includes our brand new integrated anti-malware engine that proactively protects against viruses, spyware and other threats. Therefore if you are looking for an anti-spyware protection only, we may only recommend that you select AVG Anti-Virus that includes Anti-virus, anti-spyware and anti-rootkit protection.

With AVG 8.0 version it is not possible to purchase AVG Anti-Spyware as a standalone product anymore.

Thank you Michal. Sorry for this thread people...........I found my answer in the FAQ section. Must have missed it somehow (blind) :doubt:...........My current AV and Firewall have been working top notch for me for several years and I have no wish to change at this time so will not be upgrading to AVG v8.

I will not upgrade to the suite when my time is up! Time to look for something else! Sad that AVG has destroyed Ewido AS Standalone Version :gack:

Posted by TeMerc of Internet Counter Measures, at the COU forums today.

MBAM is Malwarebytes Anti-Malware,http://www.malwarebytes.org/products.php, created by the author of several popular anti-spyware tools such as About:Buster(Currently obsolete), QooFix, E2Takeout and many other tools. He is a tremendous contributor to the malware fight and his anti-malware tool is free for use, pay for version has 'realtime' protection with a one time-life time fee.

AVG have lost their way, and are more interested in $$$ than helping users. I'll have nothing to do with them.

Will the free version of the AVG AS 7.5 still get signature updates?

You could always try SPYWAREfighter, which still uses the Ewido engine, though I guess it will be orphaned now...

Where do I find the free version of MBAM? On their website I only see the paid version (no mention of a free version or of a trial version reverting to free). On the other download sites where I looked it is listed as shareware. Am I missing something somewhere?

    LoneWolf,

I had looked on MajorGeeks already and it is listed there under License as shareware at $24.95 to keep. If there is a free version they sure don't make it very clear anywhere that it exists.

Just download it from Major Geeks, you will get the free version.
The only differance between the free and paid is the guard which is unlocked if you decied to buy.
FYI they are working on a trial of the paid version which has the guard. :D
As of right now there is just a test button to see if the guard is compatable with your system.

OK, thanks LoneWolf. Maybe they should state that they do have a free version though. They might get more people to try MBAM.

Also, sorry Mods for drawing this thread off topic of AVG license.

I guess if you have XP or below you could just download Ewido which is still on the filehippo site. I had it on XP for a while and had none of the update issues others were experiencing with avg as.

    http://www.filehippo.com/download_avg_antispyware/

At the above site it is still listed as Ewido Anti-Spyware 4.0.0.172c. Just try downloading that.
