PrevX 2.0 or Threatfire for Vista?

Which behavior based anti-malware do you prefer and why?

I'm debating if I want to keep PrevX 2.0 or convert over to ThreatFire. I currently own PrevX2.0 for Vista, but it's been in Beta for months and no update has been announced when the final Vista version will be available. (btw... they need a forum, email only support is lame). I basically paid for a beta which forces you to turn off UAC in order for it to work with Vista, which I'm not comfortable with.

I'm interested in what you guys think of PrevX 2.0 and Threatfire. Or other anti-malware behavior blockers?

I prefer Prevx as it uses blacklists/whitelists.

 

I run Prevx 2.0 And Threatfire side by side on my windows XP machine along with windows firewall. These are the only security programs I run on this machine.

 

IMO Prevx (out of the box) covers a slightly broader spectrum of protective coverage than is the case with Threatfire (out of the box). However, Treatfire has greater flexibility for expanded protection, because of its capability for accepting entry of advanced rules developed by the user.

If you are a low-risk user, I recommend Threatfire as it comes "out of the box."

If you are a high-risk user, I recommend Prevx OR (if you have the time & talent to develop advanced rules) then Threatfire can offer equal or greater protection than Prevx.

 

I'd be interested to hear the basis for your opinion.

"Spectrum" is a rather misleading buzzword nowadays thanks to the proliferation of multiple cross-types of malware these days. AFAIK both products aim to cover ALL types of malware; the effectiveness with which they do it, of course, being another question...

 

prevx definatly, i just prefer it sooo much in comparison to threatfire.
