I think I saw it around here, but can't find it...is there a good and reliable app to unlock files, so I can delete or move them when I get an error?

    You could try fileassassin:

FileASSASSIN is an application that can delete any type of locked files that are on your computer. Whether the files are from a malware infection or just a particular file that will not delete - FileASSASSIN can remove it. The program uses advanced programming techniques to unload modules, close remote handles, and terminate processes to remove the particular locked file. Please use with caution as deleting critical system files may cause system errors.

Just wondering: what is it about FA that makes you like it?

    (My personal favorite is Unlocker)

Nothing, haven't tried it yet. I just knew I saw it here somewhere, but couldn't remember the name. I downloaded both. Haven't tried either of them, but so far I like the fact that FA doesn't require to install...

    Hi
The simplicity of unlocker is that it runs from your context menu so you just have to right click a file and process it.

Exactly, thats one of the reasons why I like it.
It also tells you what process is locking the file and presents different options to solve the problem.

Besides that, it doesn't have to startup with your computer to do it's job :).
