    ESET v3 tray icon poll

I was wondering what do you all think about change in the tray icon of v3 in ESET products.

I personally kind of dislike the tray icon . v2's is nice , even the RC1 one was better . Other vendors have better . In my opinion the tray icon should bring message , should say something , should be marketing tool , something like a logo , to be easily remembered and reproduced by people .

Like the bear in Panda or the K in Kaspersky.

The current one is something like an eye but not really an eye ...

    Give ideas , too :thumb:

The new tray icon for ESS/EAV 3 is near perfect. It's simple yet eye catching and the context menu has superb options.

I would like to see the inside circle of the tray icon to animate or change color as it checks content for threats on the fly.

    Otherwise :thumb:

I don't mind would just like to see it which I never do  Well there are a few times that I do get the icon but not very often, even doing a reboot doesn't bring it back or disabling the splash screen.
I know the program is loaded and working though as I get the notice come up when there is an update so I'll live with it until maybe one day it will work for me

    I agree HTB.

The v3 .642 tray icon is very unattractive. Definitely not created by a professional designer and yes, it is, the face of the product.

I'm not sure what it is supposed to portray. It looks like an ugly green eye on a 45 degree angle.

I don't know about others but mine shows no activity. (I know there's a setup item for animation but don't know if it controls the tray icon). It should at least be animated to show activity through it, a la Kaspersky.

It seems not always to respond to right click. If I choose to 'Disable antivirus and antispyware protection' by right clicking on the icon it will then not respond to right click again. Only way to enable protection is by manually launching nod32 from the start menu.

I kind of like this one.. should stand out in the tray.:D

Animiation is nice. I had it with my Avast! 4.7 Anti-Virus program, and it rotated in the task bar when there was activity.

How about a nice picture of a metal "Terminator" that the red eyes would blink alternatively when active?

Green/White area could animate, flash back and forth, during scanning or activity. Except I notice that my NOD32 is active pretty much all the time. I look at it and small changes in the number of files that are scanned show up continuously.

I like it the way it is, besides it's only an icon, like so many applications have.
A matter of taste, but it doesn't bother me at all how it looks.
The most important part is how the program works and ESS does that just fine. :thumb:

Nice icon nodyforever, reminds me of creating skins for Palm OS devices.
Lot's of work go into it.
    Great work. :thumb:

That's a nice picture for NOD32, but what about Smart Security? An 'N' really wouldn't fit the bill there, I don't think.

Anyways, I think the icon is fine. One thing I would like to see is animation though, as others have suggested. And an option to remove the "Your system is exposed to risk" notification altogether; maybe just have the icon blink red once.

It actually looks like the remains of that lime I just squeezed into my margarita...
    :p

It is one ooogly icon. Almost all my icons are based on some shade of blue (or they at least blend with blue) , except for this sucker... I enabled hide inactive icons for the first time in my life just so I didn't have to see it....

Based in the words of HiTech_boy where the letter was a symbolic .... such as KAV/KIS that only have an icon with the letter 'K' such as NOD32 where their acronyms vary but we can flame them as ESS/EAV but the letter 'E' is not an acronym that draw the attention because it is unknown, because the 'N' comes from NOD32 and we all identify with him.

But some can do more to get some conclusion.

I don't like the new "eye" logo. I agree with others that V3 RC1 logo was more professional looking. Hopefully Eset will reconsider logotype in the future.

I prefer the old one (2.7). Not sure whether animation would provide much added value.
