Linux Professional Institute Certification - I did it!

I'm pleased to share with you my joy and pride:

I have successfully completed the exams and certified for LPIC-1. I'm now a certified Linux geek! Linux Sys Admin as well as LPIC. I feel good. The exams were harder than I expected, but I succeeded.

Now, I'll start preparing for LPIC-2. And there's Ubuntu Certified Professional in the pipe too, as well as RHCE and Novell LCP, but one at a time, one at a time.

The course itself was 3 months. And I must admit that I was a bit cocky at the end of the course, thinking the experience of the past 3-4 years plus the course were enough.

But no ... I've spent last two months solving literally hundreds if not thousands of questions, reading just about as many man pages, playing with commands, doing simulated exams etc. Not a simple affair. Plus I work full time and maintain a website. And there's a wife I must not neglect ...

But now I realize this certification means something. It's not just a piece of paper. And I'm telling you that as a Physicist ...

So the course is a starting point to further ones knowledge, as i understand it .

Full time job here aswell, still i am willing to try.

Was this a self-funded course ?

Gotta say my Computer Science Degree has only ever helped me get a foot in the door.

Real Practical courses like yours are computer equivalent of being a qualified mechanic, eg it proves you know stuff hands on rather than being able to memorise answers to questions on a piece of paper.

(in a vacuum, of course)
