I'm running SuperAntispyware on-demand and it finds nothing but tracking cookies.

I am running AVG Free and F-Prot as resident, without apparent conflict, but then again that is just me. I don't notice any system slowdown.

My guess would be yes, some people are born that way, while others work at it really hard.

I have the same problem. I am registered to f-prot and avira. F-Prot slows down my system, some program need a few seconds to start and some urls need a few seconds to load. With Avira i dont have that problem.

Glad I'm not the only one. ;) Still keep wondering why, Pentium 4-3.00 Ghz, 2Gb Ram, it should be flying, as others with less power have no slowdown at all!

We will be releasing 6.0.9.0 home and the "lan-updater" version at about the same time.

Can you share some of the new features in the 6.0.9.0 home edition? I like the program, but think it needs more options.

I don't think there will be an increase in options. This is/will be basically a bug fix version to fix some problems with 6.0.8.0. I think it will also be a release or gold version for 32 bit Vista. 64 bit Vista will still be in beta as far as I know.

If that is the case and there are no options added, I'll stay with Avira.

Curious, what kind of additional options would you like?

Options that Avira or Eset have, for example. If you have used them, it should be clear enough.

More configuration options for the Guard would be a start; at the present time there is not even a pause button from the tray icon :p

I have been using F-Prot from 1990 aprox. Virus Flip was the first virus i desinfected with F-Prot around 1990 year. From 1990 until a few month ago i only have one problem with f-prot and it was this slowdown.

I hope the problem was solutionated and i can use F-Prot for more years. :)

As you now know, the bug-fix new version 6.0.9.0 should resolve this problem

6.0.9.0 will not have any significant functionality changes in the GUI - it is mostly a "bug fix and performance improvement" release.

In addition, it uses a new engine version: 4.4.4. The changes since 4.4.3 are as follows:

    - Significant improvements to the "Eldorado" heuristic engine, including
changes to support heuristic detection of 64-bit malware.

    - Better handling of malware using encryption methods like DES.

    - Added scanning of self-extracting CAB files (WEXTRACT files).

    - Better detection of obsolete DOS .COM files that have been renamed not
to have an executable extension. This change serves no useful purpose
other than to prevent F-PROT from getting an undeserved low score in
certain tests that still award points for detection of renamed DOS
files that cannot be considered a realistic threat today.

    - Fixed a vulnerability reported by Sergio Alvarez (sergio.alvarez@nruns.com)
where a corrupted (or specifically crafted) .CHM could cause an
    out-of-bounds memory access.

    - Fixed a bug where a corrupted UPX-compressed file could crash the engine.

The bug that crash F-Prot GUI while scanning is corrected too?
