    Hi,

I just can't install ESS. I downloaded English version 3.0.621 using my new user name and password (I just upgraded from EAV to ESS) and tried to install it, but no success (first I uninstalled EAV and removed Eset folders and rebooted). During the install a window pop-ups saying 'ESS setup wizard ended prematurely'. My old licence will expire on 17th of February 2008. I have XP SP2 PRO.

Is it because the new licence is valid from date the old one expires? Or just my new licence is incorrect? (My new user name starts with EAV, not ESS).

Thanks in advance for any help.

    Hi !

It has nothing to do with your license .

You should provide ESET with more information and a special log created by ESS during installation attemp so that they can tell you precisely why installation fails.

    Follow these instructions:
    https://www.wilderssecurity.com/showpost.php?p=1111425&postcount=2

Send the log to email support[at]eset[dot]com

    Many thanks,

Just sent two log files and waiting for the answer.

Edit: I tried to install on another machine and it went flawless, so there is something wrong with my machine/system (or ESS).

I am having the same problem. Which is strange because a week or 2 ago it did work OK, due to issues with the ESS firewall and the local network I had to uninstall ESS and run with NOD32 and a 3rd party FW. I have since uninstalled all other AV and FW software and tried to install the latest ESS but get the same error as in the OP.

    Update:

The new version 3.0.642 does not change anything - still the same problem.

ESET Support did not answer yet (9 days)

Don't know if this helps but it worked for me. It's the windows installer clean up utillity. I was getting the same error message and could't install repair or anything when trying to switch from NOD to ESS. It turned out to be a corrupt uninstall. Download it to wherever and open it and it installs in start/all programs. Just click it on and if any Eset items show just delete them. It allowed me to install ESS without any problems.
    Hope that helps.

I've got the same problem, an eset bug fixer is even helping me but we together still have found no solution. I've came this far that the problem lies in (one of) the firewall drivers. But we weren't able to fix it as for now. I saw one guy on the net, he reinstalled his WinXP SP2 and all was fine, so i guess the problem is that we all did something wrong installing programs on our pc and stuff.

So it might be smart to list all programs and stuff we've got installed on our computers and find out which we all have and search on for a possible cause from there. Just suggesting, tell me if i'm wrong.

Edit: My logs have already been sent to eset ;) The windows installer cleanup thingy didn't do the trick, nor removing the infcache.1 file.

If you cannot find the file , the inf folder and all the files in it are hidden, so you might have to go into folder options and click on view hidden files

It didn't work for me, and this is not a problem of remnants, but problem with clean install.

I will try this later on today.

Have you ever used the older version of NOD32 before?

That may cause by an incomplete uninstall.Try to delete the folder and the registry keys which relate to older version of NOD32 manually before installation.

    Good luck!

I tried every tip listed here, but no effect. Installation ends up at 'installing drivers' and then window with info 'ESS setup wizard ended prematurely' pops-up. I sent logs to Eset support as advised in post [2] but still no reply (it's nearly one month of waiting).
