first what is your operating system xp or vista?
and what are you trying to repair? is your computer not booting up, or does it boot up but won't let you logon?

I've used the fdisk / mbr commands but usually it's like one of my last troubleshooting tools. Ussually the hard drive won't boot to begin with, so doing a fdisk/mbr won't make your system any worst.

I think TI has a problem with 3rd party encrypted disks - not sure, but Iseem to recall seeing a thread on this somewhere here.

    Hello zozot,

Thank you for choosing Acronis Disk Backup Software.

Please be aware that, as mentioned by bodgy, Acronis True Image does not officially support third-party encryption software, so it's not recommended to create images of encrypted drives from Windows. It is always possible to create a sector by sector image of a hard drive using Acronis Bootable Rescue Media though, which is the recommended method for such cases.

    Thank you.
