    hi hazzabeen!

Here's what you can do... After you opened your photograph in Photofiltre, click on the text icon to open the text dialog box "T" and simply write the text you wish to have on your picture....usually a text wide enough to cover at least 60% of your photograph or picture will do. Once your text is written, hit "OK and apply. Now you might reduce the opacity of your text. .....You can go down to 12% approx. for this you go to the Menu > Edit > Fade text....just choose a value between 10 and 20 %.

    Hope this help!

example, text apply at 12% opacity....

Ok, I'm doing pretty well with Photofiltre, but I got one problem - the function called skew, which "bend" text as you need - I don't get how to use it with text itself... For example I need to insert text into diagonally window, and I don't want to just change angle, but to bend it in it, as if it was written in there. Can somebody tell me how to do it, I would appreciate it very much ^^

Hi One more user and welcome to the forum!:)

Photofiltre is a bit limited when it comes the time to give shape to a text.
I am not 100% sure of what you mean here but in any case, here are 2 ways of doing this within Photofiltre.

For instance, If you want to write a text on a path (see 1st screenshot) I would suggest that you download Text 2 Path from the Photofiltre free plugin page.
    http://plugins.photofiltre.free.fr/plugins.php?lang=en

Once you got the plugin, unzip the content of the zip file to the PhotoFiltre 'Plugins' folder (usually C:\Program Files\PhotoFiltre\Plugins\). After (re)starting PhotoFiltre, Text 2 Path can be found under the menu item: Image -> Plug-in -> Text 2 Path

The plugin will allow you to render a text along the outline of a saved selection. Basically what you need to do is...

Select a path from the "Path" list.
Enter the text to render around the path in the "Text" box.
Click "Done" to render the text on your image.
Click "Cancel" to exit the plug-in.

The plugin is easy to use but there aren't many shapes that you can choose from and you would have to tweak with the parameters a bit to get something satisfying.

Also, another way, of re-shaping a text into Photofiltre can be done by using one of the filter that comes with the program. Is that what you did? So basically you write a text then you go to the Menu > Filter > Deform > and then you can choose Trapezoid/Perspective. I had these settings, see second screenshot.

    Horizontal Axis ticked
    Vertical axis none
    Distort: 100%
    Bottom Distort: 80 %
    ...Preview and Ok

    Uguel707,
I notice that your finished pictures have more than 256 colors. How is that possible when PhotoFiltre will not allow the use of Transparency with more than 256 colors?

Hi and welcome to the forum hiviking!:)

How is that possible when PhotoFiltre will not allow the use of Transparency with more than 256 colors?

Well, although limited, there is a function that allows you to get rid of areas with images of 256 colours or more. But this function works only on solid colour areas. Once you decided which part you want to have the transparency applies, you go to the Menu > Image > Transparent Color then you have to tell the program which colour you want transparent in your image. Preliminary to this, especially when dealing with complex colours, I take the Brush Tool and paint all the areas that I want to be transparent with a new solid colour or any colour that is not already contained in the image. Sure, If you want to get rid of one single colour only, you won't have to take the Brush Tool. Once you're done, save your image as a .gif or.png to preserve the transparency.
there's a tutorial on how to do this here

    https://www.wilderssecurity.com/showthread.php?t=141853

...Also the Free version have other transparency functions such as the PhotoMasque module that allows you to create advanced effects of contour and transparency on your image. You will find this module in the Filter Menu. There is also a transparency management for GIF images and exporting them to icons 16, 256 or 16 millions of colors). For this you go to the Menu > Export as Icon.

Only Photofiltre Studio, the payware version, can fully manage the transparency or Alpha Channel so you can convert your image to a layer or several layers and edit each of them independently like in Photoshop, PaintShop and the like.

Menu >Image > transparent colors...increasing the Tolerance will expand the transparency accordingly.
