    Thanks for the suggestions guys and i did exactly what you suggested but it did not help at all.I adjusted my account facility and downloaded the google pack again and the first message i received from Pc Tools was that I should renew my subscription again.:rolleyes:
    Seems like they still don,t like a piece of constructive criticism.:D

    Philo,

    Old license data is not removed during uninstall of SD. Read on some forum that PCTools has a tool to remove this info. You could try to get it by posting your problem on their forum (http://www.pctools.com/forum).

    I also had the same problem and just solved it by doing the following:
    - right click on SD icon in System Tray and click shutdown;
    - uninstall SD;
    - reboot;
    - delete all temp files in C:\Windows\temp and C:\Documents and Settings\'your name'\Local Settings\Temp
    - delete the registry key HKLM\Software\Licenses

    After this the old license info will be gone and you can install the SD version of your choice.

    I don't know why you should think that. I'm using the latest version with Vista , have no compatibility problems and it is very effective as far as I am able to tell given the other spyware clients on my machine.
    It is recommended on the Spyware Warrior website ; a must read source for anyone interested in the subject.

    aaaah... Vista! well, most are not using vista unfortunately. As you perhaps may notice the issue is on existing systems XP in most cases. Although I had some issues with the latest version in XP Pro X64 (wouldnt run) Clients had to request a refund which PC-Tools replied promptly about (dont know if she actually did get the refund... ).

    These things are complex, since users are not using the same size fits all... :rolleyes:

    funny thing though is that one of my most common support calls is users asking: How do I downgrade vista to windows xp? :D

    You appear to be one of the blessed exceptions!:D

    one thing about the sd free version in the google pack is that you only get half of its signatures.

    This is correct. By downloading the trial version/starter pack of SD, users will receive the evaluation packed signatures. Only subscribers can download the remaining signature database via the Smart Updates.

    Thats correct To get the full database access, you'll need purchase a subscription for SD.

    Hi,

    Shame, SD free = SD third class = SD factory outlet defected edition.

    I guess a lot users do not know this . And do not realize the so-called evaluation signature database is so inferior to a standard one.

    no wonder a lot of users report tons of F.P. and its marketing guys try to defend it every time the very same topic emerges.

    Perhaps these fall guys do not know this either, eh?

    Take care.

    After joining the Pc Tools forum, I was eventually able to get them to remove my old account details and am now testing the starter version.
    Well done PC Tools.:)
