iceni - how fast/slow is your Firefox with all those extensions?

I recently slimmed down my extension list and I did notice a difference.

i'm running firefox in safe-mode now and it's 100 times faster lol, it doesn't seem to hang either. i stopped using firefox ages a go because it always hangs, i only use it when opera doesn't work on a site, but i might disable some extensions and see if it runs any better.

As Pedro noted, this would require a discussion outside this thread. I'd just like to add that Linkscanner and Roboform are not available for Linux - that's why I can't use them.

    has anyone tried Downloadthemall ?

i tried it, and its increased my download speed by LOADSSSSSSSSSSS

    yet, i have a question.

when i click a download, i have to select the download manager option, because default is set to the normal firefox window (save to disk),

how can i make downloadthemall automatically get each download?

I dont know if DTA has a setting for that, but iirc you can use the FlashGot extenion with DTA and then set FlashGot to intercept all downloads.

    i just got these extensions

i had this before, but i don't know what happened to it o_O
    Context Search
lets you highlight any word then select any of the search engines you use to do a search.
    https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/240

    Second Search
Second Search provides a feature to search by other engines directly, without switching the engine of the web-search bar. you can see in the picture on it's page, you just use the up arrow button to select it in the search box. -
    https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/4096

    Bookmark this page Plus
just like Opera, when you want to bookmark a page you navigate to the place in your bookmark menu where you want to save the bookmark and select Bookmark this page :p
    https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/3928

i got another one too called Flat bookmark editing, but i don't know what it does, at the page they were all saying how good it is lol.

    Favicons picker?

For a while I was obsessed with trying to get rid of those black pages. I may have to give it a try!

i decided to get Dictionary Tooltip, the builtin spellchecker is rubbish because sometimes it stops working, although it's working now, it says these words are wrong - Tooltip builtin spellchecker, there's nothing wrong with them! the extension doesn't have them either. maybe i should compile my own dictionary ;)

Just installed "nosquint". Very good for those who find the need to frequently change the text size due to their OS's font rendering or their irrational refusal to admit they may need glasses. You can change the default settings for all sites, or do it on a site to sight basis. It also allows changing text size by using Ctrl + scroll wheel.

Don't know if it was mentioned before.
Stop-or-Reload Button - Reload or Stop in one button, simple and perfect. Now i can put the All-in-One Sidebar button to fit perfectly.

This looks like it would be a good one for the anti-phishing enthusiasts.

    https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/2429

"Easy to understand sidebar to protect users from spoofing and phishing attacks.
Putting TrustBar*, Spoofstick* and PetnameTool* in one PlugIn to get the advantages of every one of them and even more."

I have found a musthave extension to add to my others. Thinger Now I can have two or more search enginebars visible.
For anyone who regulary uses two different search engines, say Google and Wikipedia or in my case Google and Swedish National Encyclopedia (I often, among other things, use their Swedish/English dictionary since english is not my native language).
Well, maybe life would go on without it, but it is one of those things that makes things just nice. A little thing I didnt know I needed until I found out about it :)

i use second search for extra search engines. it lets you keep your default search engine, but when you start typing a popup pops up with your other search engines so you can pick one of them for that search while keeping your normal search engine.

I'm really liking hyperwords so far as it just saves me time and think it deserves another mention. I believe it was a recommendation from iceni60 - thanks for that.

I recently found a small extension called Prefsearch. It adds a menu item in about:config that lets you do a Google search of for any entry. Very useful if you dont know what a particular preference does.
