anyone tried the free one year bitdefender?

I too recieved an email from bitdefender yesterday, it was in german so I couldn't be bothered trying to translate it

 

As I understand, this one year trial was for the readers of the german c't magazine.
It was available via internet, and that was not the original intend. Maybe, as it was downloadable as a hole program, some poeple was also selling it.

 

It says then, free bitdefender anti-virus 10 with key, but the key does not work with anti-virus

 

How can I get to the registration form? It just shows BD homepage in German

 

Ok I am German but Can not uderstand a gash darn thing Is it antivirus or the suite and what the heck do I click to download it send me a translator please.you guys are good that figured it out.

@ computer geek It's normal that that key doesn't work on antivirus because if you read the translation it states that the key is for antivirus plus. You have to download the antivirus plus version. You can find the English version here. Antivirus plus isn't the suite. It has only a basic firewall.

@Albinoni BitDefender License keys aren't tied to language versions but to product versions. Which means a licence key for BitDefender Antvirus works only on any language version of Antivirus,...

 

Isn't v10 the old one with crappier heuristics?

 

In the 2008 products the heuristics are improved. But I can't say how much better that they are if you compare it with the previous version (version 10).

 

which makes an excuse for me to switch from yet another av.

 

Bitdefender has a feature I have not seen before the real time protection can be disabled for time increments or permanently settings 5 minutes 15 minutes 30 minute-1 Hr-Permanently-System reboot.If any one of the time increments are choosen it will enable It self automatic.I thinks thats was a great idea.

I gave up on trying so I am using the trial now.

 

Normally you have to go to the buy (purchase) page there you can enter a coupon code. That is the case on the English website. But now you can only enter a coupon code for the 2008 products.

 

I forgot what coupon code was, was it security03?

v10 does not have crap heuristics, better than most available right now.

Yeah ok, that was what i was saying except i put my words more drastically i'm just saying that if its not the best from a company, i'm not taking it. Edit: why http scanning does not work?

 

Http scanning works fine in both v10 & v11
