Here an excerpt of the German ESET side

Against the report of 16. November 2007 could not be kept the focused release date with calendar week 50 unfortunately. Release of the German version will take place soon after an extensive quality test row. DATSEC and ESET ask höflichst to excuse this delay. The English-language versions are not concerned of this delay.

As the further date 10. became. January mentioned. This is today. Release will not give it again.

ESET, which proceeds here and which is the problem? I find, your customers have a right on official info.

    ESET,

why didn't you respond, so ignore, this post since 10 th Jan ? It's not fair. Only because no German speaking ESET is a representative here that there is no information for this. Since KW of 50 is called it, which would come German EAV 3. Until today there are not these however and also no information.

Thanks, i know. But why is there still no comment from an official ESET ? How is it possible, that there was only a RC of the german Version instead of the Info from the german sides that said, the german Final comes KW 50 of 2007 ?

Now in the middle of Jan. 2008 there is only an RC ? An RC which is based on Build 580 ? This couldn't be an Version which is up to date. Because the english based on Build 621.

    Hello Steel,

there are currently no localized versions available except the native language versions in English, Slovak and Czech.

The upcoming german version will be finally localized on the base of Build 3.0.621. I except the final version to be released in a couple of days after a running some internal tests for quality assurance.

If you have any questions, feel free to contact me directly by sending me an email.

    Hi Lonelyness,

well, thanks for responding. I just wondering, why the german was delayed again. As i wrote, i saw an official Stament at the german side dated from the 20 th of Dez. 2007 ( which is still there ) that the german relase should be avaible in the KW 50.

What are the reasons this time for the delay we all know from the past years ?

There is a delay in all localized versions, mainly caused due the new Build 3.0.621 (for the german version - i don't know details about other languages' status and the reasons for their delays).

The information on eset.de was updated on December 20th that the expected release date wasn't correct. The german versions will definitly be one of the first localized versions to be released. :thumb:

I'm working for DATSEC, not for ESET. Thats why i can only report about the issues that caused a delay with the german localization.

The main reason for the delay for the german version was the release of the new english build 3.0.621. Two different versions in two different languages don't even make sense.

So, as result we can say, it was ESET's fault ? But, they release 621 many weeks ago ?
About which two version do you talk ? I only know Build 621. I thought, the only difference between english and german Version is the language ? The internal things are the same ?

Please understand me right, I'm just wondering, because this info about delay is the same as every year in the past ESET Germany has to release an german Version.

Especially after publishing the 2.70 ESET Germany told, this extremly delay never will repeat cause of an new, intern strategy. But, this year we have the same as every year.

It costs pleanty of time to localize a product in a good quality. Surely, we can serve a "denglish" version with german and english mixed, we can also have silly and not usable translations inside a product. You can also have an english manual und an english help system. If you want this, we can offer you this with nearly zero delay.

Localisation is more than just translating the GUI. If you have an error in a GUI-related string, this has some important follow ups. New screenshots have to be taken for help system, reports and advisories have to be changed. If you change structures of categories and menues, all the work hast to be done again. It's also possible, that after the localisation process an option is not able to open correctly, because of an invalid / wrong translation. Thats why a good translation will always take more time. And if you have a solid base (translation), every building (new version) can be assembled on it in less time. :thumb:

It's true that ESET's plan was to release all versions at the same time, but unfortunally this wasn't possible. Sorry about that.
