I just signed a friend up to Nod32, we installed it with his temporary username and password, but when we restarted the computer it comes up with a message from the system tray that Nod32 has been turned off and that the computer has no anti virus protection.

Opening Nod32 the screenshot is what we see. No other explanation, no options to choose from, very must at a loss as to what is going on. Access to files, emails and internet is not secured wtf is this about, it is still a valid license until it runs out, why is it not protecting the computer?

So far I am not at all impressed with version 3, looking around here it appears to need a lot of work before it was released, you seem to be using the general paying public as your beta testers.

Back on topic, what can we do to ensure the computer is protected while we wait for his permanant username / password to be emailed?

I never got that problem at all. NOD32 has been voted best AV out there. Eset gives you a 30 day trial. When did you get the 30 day trail? Have you tried updating it? Have you tried uninstalling and reinstalling. Use revo Uninstsller in advanced mode. I downloaded the trial awhile ago and was so impressed I bought it. No problems ever since. I also see your using it in standard mode. Can you access advanced mode?

I did not get the trial on this machine, it was purchased straight up, I have been using Nod32 for years and my friend trusted my judgment on the topic. As it was purchased straight up you get 2 days to enter your username and passwoerd, in that 2 days you get issued a temp username and password.

I have updated it, and no I have no uninstalled and reinstalled - if Nod32 is going to turn out to be just like Norton (thats their customer support #1 line (in an pakistani accent) - have you tried reinstalling?) , I will be giving it the flick quick smart and finding a package that is trouble free.

You see, I have some 10 licences in my name, I have it on my entire extended families computers and up until now have not have a problem. My family being mostly computer ignorant, need something that I can help them with from 3000kms away, Nod32 was the bees knees in this regard, set and forget - I certainly am not looking forward to their shell being updated to v3 as if they are riddled with problems like others are (just look at the treads in this section, all bug / error / help - not a single 'hey good job eset!) I will be sourcing other software to replace it with that IS set and forget.

I am extremely disappointed that eset did not thoroughly test v3 before setting it loose on the public, I thought they were better than that. :thumbd:

Well, i have to say that i agree with you on the bit i highlighted .Though your gripe doesnt seem to be performance related. Not sure they can pre test license issues !!

Maybe before you go tossing all your toys out of the cot and throwing insults to others you should re evaluate your situation.
EAV has a green tick beside "Antivirus and Anti spyware" meaning it is active, your signature files are current.... Tray Icon is NOT Red, it is gold meaning urgent action is needed by the user, so at the moment EAV is working.
The message you are getting is purely stating that in 2 days time your temporary license is going to run out therefore you wont be able to update, HENCE the "Maximum protection is not ensured. Access to files, emails and internet is not secured" Put your purchased user name and password in where it says, and then you can ENSURE - (make certain of) that your Protection for your subscribed period is SECURED - (Reliable; dependable.) .. Oh yeah the message will also go away..

Dieselman is right, don't blame eset for something you have or have not done.. eg; updating a license that is due to expire in 2 days.
Try dropping the tough man attitude, ppl may be more willing to help.

Thank you. Norton does the same and warns you 30 days before your license is up that your protection is down. Its a notice to tell you to renew your license but if you simple use the taskmanager or windows security you will see you have an active anti virus.

You only have 2days. Well one now till your license is expired so why don't you just renew it and the warning will go away. In 24 hours you will not be able to update NOD32 and the icon will be red.

Ok for starters you may want to read my initial post, here, I will highlight what you are missing:
I did not 'bash' nod32, I merely expressed my disappointment in their current product.

Again, try reading what I posted, seeing as ESET themselves directed me to this forum for support, I would prefer their own trained technicians or someone who is knowledgeable on the product itself answering the questions I actually asked, instead of some peanut who has been here for 5 minutes thinking he knows all, but quite obviously is clueless.

I am seriously starting to think you are retarded, at the very least you cant read. Please stop spamming this thread.

Dude even poutine agrees and tried to tell you. Its a gold icon not red. Your hopeless and not listening to us. Your getting the warning to tell you to update your subscription. Be thankful that Eset is telling you this. There is nothing wrong with the product and its not spamming what I am doing. Am I telling you go buy another product? NO. Instead of complaining then why don't you just buy the damn product and be done with it. Using terminology like "wtf" and "if Nod32 is going to turn out to be just like Norton (thats their customer support #1 line (in an pakistani accent) - have you tried reinstalling?) , I will be giving it the flick quick smart and finding a package that is trouble free." is not the way to get help.

    Ok missed that bit,
So for starters, That is a XPsp2 security center message. I see in the screenie that the security center Icon is not there now, it may have been a one off because the nod definition file was out of date and had not had the chance to update yet, is the red alert sheild still there after reboot? It may also be a "false possitive from WSC because its catalog may be out of date. The tray icon for nod is not red, so therefore it is working. There are plenty of topics out there regarding WSC not detecting firewalls and Anti virus software installs Google without quotes "security center not detecting anti virus"
Windows security center uses definition catalogs just like AV's to detect current software that is a Microsoft security partner, eset is one of them. 1st off make sure the installation of XP is current and fully up to date as NODv3 is definitely in the current WSC definition catalog. After the update you may need to reinstall nod32v3 so windows can register it with Security Center.

So in a nutshell, NOD32 is probably not the problem, the problem is 99% pointing at XP.
The gold color icon is NODs User notice notification. So that wont change until a full license is installed.

And on a little foot note: Going off at ppl and calling them retarded because they believe in a product like Dieselman does, will not help your situation. you came into a community forum asking for help, don't shoot down the ones that actually take time out of their lives to offer some guidance whether it be good or bad.

So you can either try ideas thrown into the melting pot, or just tell anyone good enough to offer some assistance that they are demented clueless retards, remember we are not the ones with your problem, we do not have your system sitting in front of us, and nor are we psychic but we are the ones trying to help with what little information you have provided...... think about it.

If you think that your license should not expire in 2 days, please submit a request using the integrated support form so that we can if you're actually using your license and not an older one that might be due for renewal.

    That's the way, Mavric!
Quite often people start bashing Eset even if the problem lies elsewhere or they don't understand the situation.

    Folks,

    Let's all calm down.

It's a license issue and fellow users can't fix license issues unless it's to advise on an incorrectly entered username/password, which this isn't.

Thank you very much MaVRiC for your rational explanation.

    Firstly, this is the official support forum for Nod32, to be honest, I think it is a little crude that when paying customers have a legit problem, their first port of call is an open forum. {Snip - Blue}

Dieselman has been a member of this forum for 7 days, and in that time has made near 200 posts. I have reviewed many of his posts, all of which offer little or no help to people who have posted problems. He failed to even read my post properly before replying with his homebrew remedies, why would I even consider anything he has to say?

In case it was not 100% clear, I did not start a trial version on this persons computer, he signed up immediately and paid for 2 years of cover before even begining the download. this problem occured while the temporary username and password were in effect while he waits for the Australian rep to email him his permanent details.

Again, I did not bash Eset, can you show me where I did? I did express my concerns for their current software and have on a couple of occasions expressed my disappointment with different areas of their service. this was constructive criticism, not bashing.

As also mentioned, I have been using Nod32 for several years and have 10 PC licenced in my nme alone, I also put my entire work site on Nod32 as well, a further 6 licenses, all paid for 2 years straight up, so after investing so much money in this companies software, I would not only hope to have a product that is bulletproof (or as close as it can be) {Snip - Blue} I am not here for the fun of it, I am only here to sort out the problems I am experiencing with my paid subscriptions {Snip - Blue}.

Have you got some problems with Nod32 itself?

Yes that is what i said, and that is what I am (extremely disappointed). That quote of mine can hardly be called bashing Eset mate. It was a statement, not abuse.

As for me having problems with Nod32, why don't you read my other posts if you are concerned.

    Your welcome.

well he did offer some advise that may have helped in his first post
If you had gone into advanced mode like he mentioned you would have seen this, showing whether or not EAV was actualy working. Sometimes even the smallest of ideas can give the largest of details.

Anyway lets not turn this into something it should not be and get back on topic.

Let us know how you get on.

    Folks,

A number of unneeded comments snipped and one off-topic post removed.

If this thread turns personal again, it will be closed. I strongly suggest laying off the personal comments now. Work the problem, not the poster.
