    Hi. folks:

This is what has happened to me on this Patch Tuesday:

On Laptop with WinXP sp2, it received January Malware Removal Tools and
    2 patches(KB941644 and KB943485), while

On Laptop with WINXP sp3 RC1, it received only the Removal tools, no patches.

Does this make any sense ?

Is anybody else having any issues with this lot of updates.
I have 2 Vista boxes both of which have failed to install this mornings updates, tried twice on each box. The first hint of all not going right is when the computer reboots after install and starts it's "configuring updates" routine it then reboots half way through the process then starts again.

I guess because I have SP1RC I don't get any today for my Vista box. Since one of them is a prerequisite to SP1 final maybe it's release will be soon.

Installed w/no hitches on 2 Vista boxes (1 Ultimate desktop, 1 Business laptop) and one XP SP2 laptop.

Wireless link comes up a lot faster on the Vista laptop now...

I ended up installing them one at a time and managed to install all except one of them, KB943411 to do with windows sidebar. As I don't have sidebar turned on it's no big deal, although I tried turning it on for the update. Having the same problem on both boxes, both Vista Business and both set up pretty much the same, busy day so I haven't been able to try and track down what's causing the problem.

I have the same problem with this updates. It's configuring updates, but it's just going in a loop. It never got completed, and I couldn't even start the computer.

What has the update you linked to, anything to do with the problems? Did it fix your problem?

I ended up installing them one at a time till I found the culprit, which was KB943411. That link in my previous post gave the solution to fixing the problem, and yes it worked. However I had to change things slightly from what MS was saying. In the Windows Sidebar folder I didn't have a "Shared Gadgets" folder, just said Gadgets in my two boxes, so I made a folder called "Test", as suggested, in the Windows Sidebar folder. Then downloaded the stand alone installer for KB943411 on the same page as the fix is on, ran it rebooted, checked the "View Update History" in Windows Update and it said that the installation of KB943411 was successful. Worked on both my boxes.

    Hi Jadda
are you by chance running Comodo firewall, I am and I had a sneaky feeling that Defense+ may be causing some type of problem and after checking at Comodo it looks like it might be.
    https://forums.comodo.com/help_for_v3/windows_update_fails_with_comodo_merged_threads-t16987.60.html
the thread starts of about a december MS update but then gets into these current ones and our old friend KB943411 is the main culprit again.

This is a relevant post from one of their admins that hopefully might work, he also says a new version of Comodo firewall will be out soon with many fixes including the windows update problem. Of course if you don't have CFW this wont be any help at all.

just tried TEMPORARY FIX 1 and worked fine.

    Hello. :)

Thanks for the tip, but no, I'm not using Comodo Firewall. I have NIS 2008 on my computer. But I also found out that update KB943411 is not only causing the problem. I tried to install all other update except KB943411, but again it didn't work. So it's a different updates that is causing the problem here.

If you have ny other tips, please come with them. If not, I just have to wait for a fix from Microsoft.
