    I'll second the first question.
Also an explanation of the need for the new design would be informative.

I guess it has better cleaning abilities? Other than that I see nothing better, well except for the import/export settings.

    Hi,

there isn't difference in detection malware, but there was improved cleaning the malware and its settings.

I think that fourth generation is far yet. Momentary Eset has to improve third generation of products (advanced heuristic, firewall,...)

Why would we want v4, esset can't even get v3 working right?

I think the interoperability with Vista has been improved; There were certain error messages one could get from NOD32 2.7 that weren't errors.

I'm curious - Are the issues primarily with XP and/or Comodo 3 users?

2.7 works far better on Vista for me. With 3.0 I get the web site access slowdowns and also spurious script / boot sector virus reports if heuristics are enabled.

With so many negative comments about V3 at the moment,I cant understand anybody "upgrading"(term loosely used) to it,when V2.7 is such a good product,Eset seemed to have dropped the ball with V3 i just hope they manage to pick it up very soon!

Well, I just stopped in to see if V 3 was in any better shape than it was when first released. If anything it seems like more users are having trouble with it now than when it was released.

I think I'll keep running 2.7 until I see some improvement. I have enough problems without having to worry whether my AV is working.

This is truly surprising. NOD32 was at the top of the heap when I first purchased and installed it. But now I see more and more review sites that have it pretty low on their list. How could a company allow this to happen? They had to know they were releasing a version that was not quite there yet. If not, then my confidence is dropping fast.

Are you kidding? It still has some of the same problems that were reported 3 months before it was released, when it was in the 1st beta. What does that tell you about the development process it went through?

I have made a couple of posts (at least one of them here (I think)) to the effect that contented users of software rarely bother to post in forums like this just to say how happy they are!

I upgraded NOD to V3 and Comodo to V3 in the same week and haven't had problems with either of them on XP Home. Then again, I've never used Outlook Express or file sharing software, which seem to be the subject of a lot of the complaints I have seen about both products.

I have been running 3.0 since it came out on a few computers at home and have implemented it at 3 customers replacing Symantec and Norman antivirus without having any of the issues reported in the forums.

I am sure that ESET will get around the errors and compatibility issues but software development does take time to avoid creating new issues when fixing the known ones and it seems to me that the guys at ESET have been quite busy since the 3.0 relase with the business editions and the server software at the end of November and after that build 621 before Christmas so lets allow them their hollidays!

Version 3 gives if nothing else a GUI that stands out on the positive side instead of on the negative side as in 2.7 when compared to other antivirus software but should you upgrade now if you already run 2.7? Well you can try but don't panic if it doesn't work 100 % for you!

Although Vista came out more than a year ago almost all businesses still run XP waiting at least for Vista SP1 so why would you upgrade your antivirus software to a version that has been around for only a couple of months?

The customers I have installed with version 3 were changing from other products and in such a case I think it gives meaning to test and use the new version but I wouldn't urge my 2.7 customers to upgrade - not because of what I read in the forums but simply because it has always been that new major software versions always introduces new problems so unless they solve some problems you actually have then why take the risk?

I think we just have to keep on documenting and reporting the problems to ESET and I'm sure they will solve them.

    From a happy 3.0 consultant/customer :).

    Re: v2 Versus v3

I think version 3 has improved a lot.
I have no major issues with v3.
And just because the number 3 is bigger than 2 (version #),
it is enough to attract me.
And it also 'seems' like it has more features, better performance.
I know I'm not being logical, I'm just hoping what I'm saying is the truth.
So, in conclusion, v3 for me.

v2. It simple, clean, fast and unobtrusive.

v3 has a fancier interface and a better removal engine. Unfortunately, when it was released, it contained numerous bugs and glaring mistakes. That put a lot of people off, including me. Not to mention I don't see any major improvements to the actual product.

    Re: v2 Versus v3

V2 for sure but after trying V3 & going back to V2 it now has the scanning bug where it says its still doing a full scan but its not & never had that problem before trying V3 I don't need a pretty GUI for AV just one that works great like V2 did going to reformat soon & stay with V2 not trying V3 untill its quick(including the GUI as it was so slow to do things) & they give us a choice of a non graphic GUI don't know why they left out that option as its the first option I change in V2.

Seems like a beta to me still.

    Re: v2 Versus v3

I have asked the same question before.

From what I understand, there is no difference in detection ability between V2 and V3.

I have not tried V3; V2 works too well for me; too well that it's not worth taking the risk of messing things up in trying version 3.
