Auto naming backup files

I am sure this must be somewhere. I just can not find it.

How do I set up a task to do a complete (not incremental) backup and append something (preferably the current date) to the assigned file name each time it runs?

As we know, it is important to have historical backups in case some file has been corrupted since before the most recent backup.

Assuming (not far from the truth) I have an external USB drive for backups.
I create a full machine backup task to backup to:
X:\FullBackups\MyDesktop.tib

Now, each time it runs I would like an incrementing name not an overwrite.
X:\FullBackups\MyDesktop_20071101.tib
X:\FullBackups\MyDesktop_20071201.tib
X:\FullBackups\MyDesktop_20080101.tib

I appreciate that my exact system may not be possible
But I would like to know what is possible.

BTW: The new Try and Decide option is terrific!
Great for trying and dumping trial software that does not live up to its marketing.

You'd have to write a batch file and have it run after the backup to rename the file to what you want. If you use the TI "post" command to do this, you can't have an automatic validation run after the backup because the file will be renamed prior to the validation being run and the file won't be found.

You could also use the "pre" command to rename the previous full backup before the new backup begins. This way you could still run an automatic validation if you wanted to.

 

You can create a Backup Location in ATI and then write task to backup to there -- autonaming, incorporating date & time, will be automatic. No need to mess wtih batch files.
