Trueimage 11 Home for Linux Users

I dual boot Windows and Linux and currently use Trueimage 10 Home. I primarily work in Linux and only use Windows for housekeeping chores. Is there anything new in Trueimage 11 for us Linux users? I looked in the sticky that describes the new features in Trueimage 11 and couldn't see anything that would warrant an upgrade.

If you use GRUB installed to the boot sector of your Linux partition, the sector-by-sector option in TI 11 will allow the partition to be restored without GRUB needing to be repaired. Otherwise, there probably isn't much difference.

You should note that TI 11 does not allow you to save your backup images on an Ext3 partition (and possibly not Ext2). If you currently do this (or plan to), you'd better stick with 10.

 

MudCrab, thanks for the response. I'll stick with TI 10 for now.

I wasn't aware that you could save an image to an Ext3 partition. I tried this and couldn't do it from within Windows, but it did work after booting to the restore CD. I don't know that I'll have much occasion to do this, but it's nice to have options like that.

You were kind enough to respond with some helpful information, and based on your posting I upgraded to TI 10. I really like the ability to extract a file or folder from an image of an Ext3 partition, so this was a worthwhile upgrade.

Thanks for the post. I own TIES for Linux, and I have been considering the purchase of TI-11 so I could use BartPE for better HW support. It would be nice if Acronis could produce a statically linked Linux version of their rescue binary, so we (Linux users) could customize our own recovery CDs.
