Can an IP address be traced back to months later?

    I think it's pretty much a given most places log ip addresses these days but how exactly can that address be traced directly back to you months later when you've already changed it over a dozen times already?

    Take for instance the post you just made, your IP is recorded at this moment in time. If for whatever reason there is a need to know who had this IP at this moment in time, your Interent service provider would be contacted and their logs would know who was using this IP at this given time.
