Why not 30 days?

Trial version of 3.0.566 (downloaded today) is going to expire on 03/01/2008, which is more like 20 days, not 30 (from today).

What is going on?

Where did you learn math? You've got approx 77 days.

 

The old German numeric date notations DD.MM.YYYY and DD.MM.YY have been replaced by the ISO date notations YYYY-MM-DD and YY-MM-DD.

Apparently, Eset has chosen to use the older date notation format. I find it to be a bit confusing.

 

Eset didn't choose, the date is displayed in accordance with one's regional settings.
Anyway, this is typical: one shows 3rd of January, the other reads 1st of March... That's when ISO standards start to make sense

 

Well, I find the way of putting the month first in a numerical date to be very confusing!
It depends how you say it, I guess.
In British English, one would say the first of March 2008, i.e. 01/03/2008, in American, (not really English now!), I think they say March [the] first 2008, i.e. 03/01/2008.

 

As it relates to "License valid until:" , that is the way I have always understood it to be

My normal Windows regional settings are MM/dd/yyyy and opening Nod gui shows that format.

If I change to another format(MM/dd/yy)....and then re-open the Nod gui, that new format is shown.

Exactly, and date format is set to dd/mm/yyyy, so it is still 20 days.

So, if I understand correctly, trial expiry date is contained inside installer(license). Somewhat unusual approach, in that case, would it not be better to say Trial version till "03jan2008", instead of "30 days trial version"?

Of course, if one wants to try software it does not matter if it is 20 or 30 days. Just confusing when it says 30 days but is not. And what if one keeps the downloaded trial version till it is expired already?

Finally, THANKS for not bloating registry with hidden entries. That is actually main reason I am recommending NOD32 to everybody.

Why trial expiry date changes?

On the computer where NOD32 was going to expire on 3 Jan 2008, it is now 19Jan 2008.

How can expiry date change? I haven't entered new password or username, so what is going on; is it something system related or Eset added days for all trial licenses?
