AVG free or AVAST!free

Which is the best ?? A friend told me that AVG is lighter and better .... true or false ?

Just go to the website of AV Comparatives. It will give you some idea how many AV's stack up against one another. Although it is for the paid ones. Remember to that Avast Home which is the free version is almost the same as the paid version that was tested. And that AVG Free isn't as close to the AVG Anti-Malware that was tested. http://www.av-comparatives.org/
