I'd prefer to post this in the Truecrypt forum, but their registration is not working.

Here is my problem: I recently moved my hard drive into a new computer and installed a new OS. I tried Vista x64 then XP x64. At some point during the transition my partition table got wiped. I discovered this when x64 asked me to format the drive. I immediately ejected the install disc and rebooted w/ a boot disc which has Acronis Disk Director. I successfully restored all of my partitions (or so I thought) and went on to install XP x64.

My partition table is as such:
    1st 40 GB w/ XP x64 | 2nd 20GB | 3rd 75GB | 4th 50 GB | 5th 47GB encrypted

All data on partitions 1-4 is fully intact and not corrupted. There was no formatting done on any of the partitions other than the 1st one.

When I launch Truecrypt and try to look for the device \Device\Harddisk0\Partition5 it is not found. The 1st four partitions show as they should, but #5 is missing. I've tried numerous things to try and reinstate the partition without formatting it, but have been unsuccessful. Partition5 is listed as "Unallocated" in numerous hdd tools. No partitions are found when 'restore' functions are tried in numerous partition restoration programs presumably because the partition is encrypted by truecrypt.

I did create a backup of the VolumeHeader before this move and do have that file available. However when I try to use the 'Volume Tools' and 'Restore Volume Header' I don't have the option to select the Partition5 under the Devices.

I need to find a way to mount this partition so that it's visible to truecrypt & XP. Then hopefully I'll be able to enter the password and decrypt the data.

If anyone has any suggestions I'd greatly appreciate the help.

    Thank you,
    polarz

Did you get this problem solved? I was wondering whether running the TrueCrypt plugin from the BartPE live CD might work? Or possibly installing something like Knoppix on one of the other partitions and running TrueCrypt from there? I know these are shots in the dark but you never know. it sounds bad .. I feel for you.
