What do you consider the best program to organize and store photos?

I agree... IMO, Picasa is arguably the best at organization without exception, paid or free. :)

You can ask what stuff are using Picture agencies, proffessinal photographers and the big news agencies two names always show up : Photostation and Imatch, both are not for the hobbyist, but speaking in terms of the best, they are .

A simple way is to set up a filing system on your hard drive, either in a separate partition, or a main directory with sub directories as your categories/events/trips, etc.

Then, it's easy to navigate to and work with your photographs in your imaging program, such as Photoshop's File Manager.

Picasa,Adobe's own Lightroom etc. are not up to demanding requirements in an industrial workflow, they are simply to slow and missing features like embedding IPTC info.what do you think about organising millions of pictures, and looking for that special picture in there with a deadline tagged on it for two hours,so stuff has to be fast and the GUI has to be dead on simple, almost crashfree and foremost good support and a good userguide. But for the common home user Picasa and others are oke.,
