I have to admit that with some of the issues since the release, the smart thing would be for Eset to give or upgrade the suite to anyone with say, 6 months or more remaining on their license. Maybe even add 6 months. It would be good damage control, and personally the only way I will ever upgrade to the suite. They have to get it out there, especially to the folks here or it isnt going to sell. It is just proactive marketing.

I know it's not an excuse, but can you name a piece of software, particuarly one with a major brand-new written-from-scratch component (ie. the firewall), that didn't have any bugs on release? At least ESET appear to be willing to acknowledge and quickly fix bugs.

I certainly can't see them offering free upgrades and saying: "Here you are chaps, since our product still has a few bugs to iron out, you can have it for free".

    Steve.

this isnt about the "before" life. It is about what is currently going on, how to rectify it, and how to make things as quickly as possible the way they were. I know a little about this. And there isnt anything that can turn a percieved negative into a positive like an incentive to a customer.

You guys are quite lucky. Most companies that I know of do not offer free upgrades. Nor do I think Eset should be offering free upgrades to go to ESS.

think of it this way.. if you had Symantec - you'd be paying to get the equivalent of v3.0 antivirus - they charge for ALL UPGRADES.

Eset's policy of giving even MAJOR version upgrades is far better for you - they are only charging you for an upgrade to a product with FAR ENHANCED functionality - ie, a DIFFERENT PRODUCT.

I don't understand the problem people who used Eset AV 2.7 have a free upgrade to AV 3.0. Why would ESET give people a free upgrade to ESS 3.0?

I think that people who bought Windows XP should get Vista for free. After all, it's just a new version of a product I've already bought.

Plus, since Vista has some bugs, we should get it for free anyway.

I paid for the upgrade from 2.7 to ESS & I'm pleased to spend money on a good product, why should you feel this should be free?, 2.7 doesn't have the same feature as ESS so I think the 41 bucks I paid was well worth it...

Um.....at least for home users this is not true since 2006.....Now your subscription allows you to get the latest program version for free.

Getting back on topic, I agree that giving free upgrades to ESS for NOD32 customers is not viable for Eset, as it neither fixes any problems nor gives them any financial advantage.

I agree, but the difference in the world zones is absurd. No free's or all free's. So no situation as we have now with Australia, where people get it for free as said here.

But I must say that the USA is doing good by adding the days of the old license to the new license!
