AMON - Number of files Scanned

I am running AMON. In the Control Center status window under "Number of files Scanned:" an actively incrementing number is shown. I looked in the program help file and searched the NOD32 web site along with this forum but cannot find an explanation for what this number specifically represents. At last look it was at 47510 and rising. Any help is appreciated.

I don't understand you question..The sentence "Number of files Scanned" says exactly what AMON have done. The number is rising during you windows session and shows how many files are scanned with the on access scanner AMON.
The number starts at zero when you restart your windows...

The number is now 97169 (and still climbing). Does that mean AMON has scanned 97169 files since it was started? I thought AMON only scans files as they are opened, executed, and created. Why is the number so high?

Just navigating menus and across file shortcuts with your mouse pointer
will add many, many files to AMONs's "Number of Files Scanned" info...even before you actually click an a shortcut to launch an app. That's just one example; the point being that there is a lot of file activity going on in the background associated with everything you do on your PC. If you order food in a restaurant, you don't see anything but the waiter bringing your food to you...but a lot of work went on unseen in the kitchen to prepare it .

It reveals background file activity ... pretty interesting to watch (if you've never seen it) and very useful for trouble-shooting certain things. A version is available for Win98, WinXP, etc, etc. and Linux.

Amon is the resident scanner that checks every opening and closing file, so it is forever increasing in the amount of files checked.
