    I'm ready to give Spybot the boot after many issues with the 1.5 version that are very slow to be resolved.

    What would be a good FREE replacement to complement my real-time ZoneAlarm 7 Security Suite and its anti-spyware? AVG Anti-Spyware?

    You cant go wrong with SUPERAntiSpyware, a-squared, or AVG AntiSpyware. All three are good.

    Personally I like SAS.

    I use both AVG antispyware and Superantispyware as free on demand scanners. I think both are good. I haven't tried A-Squared.

    I would think any of them would be better than Spybot though so you can't go wrong. Also, if you are just looking for an on demand scanner you can have more than one and probably should. No program is going to catch all threats and one might catch something the other misses.

    Hi,folks;

    SAS free is on the top of list. May consider Spyware Doctor starter edition(disable on guard and background immunization) on demand scanner. Or AVG AS free (signature update is not very swift, needing patience, a thick one). Others, list goes on and on, you need to feel it yourself. Everyone has a very different taste. Good luck.

    Thats interesting, Perman, down here in the Antipodes, AVG AS is the fastest of the ones I use to update. Typically about 2s to download, another 6 to install them. Spybot's next fastest, using a USA mirror, then A2, then SAS, which takes about a minute.

    My personal choices for free on-demand malware cleaners... SUPERA-fe & Norman MC (updated standalones). I still do kept an old copy of standalone AVERT, very efficient on old malwares thou!

    Hi,
    Speaking of AVG AS, which version do you have ? Plus(paid) or free ? I have AVG AS plus, and its update speed lately is as par as yours, but as to free version, perhaps a different experience. :)

    Perman, it's 7.5.143 free version. Just timed it, roughly, and 3s to update, another 6 for the "please wait" button to change.

    Hi,

    Very good, indeed. A huge improvement from the past.
