Difficult to give you a "correct" answer as this will depend upon your OS and the amount of memory you have installed. In addition it will also depend upon which modules you have installed.

On this machine, WIN XP with 2 GB of memory, with just the KAV file scanner installed, KAV 7 has 2 running processes taking up 38MB RAM VM and runs very light.

Effect on system performance is more important than memory usage unless you have an "older" computer.

with settings configured to max protection, about how much resources does KIS take up, and how much resources does KAV take up? im asking this because i do play games quite often, and i dont want something bogging my system down, i am trialing ESS and its total resource usage is about 30mb-40mb, wondering if KIS 7 is smaller than that in total with all the processes,

On one of my XP Pro boxes (3.2 HTP4/2 GBS RAM) and firing on all cylinders, KIS tops out at 14K while all is idle. Highly unlikely that it will interfere with your gaming.

wat about wen KIS is active? lets say doing a scan or while your doing stuff at your computer?

    *EDIT*

i read that KIS memory usage jumps to nearly 60mb while scanning? but since wen its idle it so low, does that mean its real-time protection isnt all that gr8?

yes, i would also add that kav7 runs the same 2 processes even with the 4 modules installed by default.

The best thing you can do is to install KIS on your PC and see how you like it.
Remember you can configure KIS to stop AV scanning when you play your games.:thumb:

I have KIS installed on a system with 512mb ram and xp home. I only have the file/web AV part installed at the moment and its using around 10mb of ram.

Edit - I installed all components and the memory use hasn't really change a whole lot, still around 10mb.

Does anyone know if KIS 7 has anti-trojan/worm and anti-keylogger capabilities?

    Are you joking ?
If not see for yourself on av-comparatives.
Also PDM was tested for KIS6 :
"The recent results from AV-Comparatives showed that Kaspersky Anti-Virus 6.0 provides exceptionally effective proactive protection – having detected 99% of the AV-Comparatives collection."

I fail to see the humor in my question, as your quote doesn't explicitly say anything about Anti-Keylogger; neither does the following comparison chart from Kaspersky:

is paying extra for KIS really worth it? or would it be better to just buy KAV and wait for the new Comodo v3?

since u get the firewall integrated in KIS, does the AV and firewall interact, like once the packets go through the firewall does the AV scan them as they come through before they get onto ur system? just wondering cause ESS does that(pretty sure)

As for first question, it's up to you. In your case i'd surely choose the kav/comodo combo, never used suites.

I'm not sure about your second q, wait a little for a kis user's reply :)

KAV and KIS have a web antivirus that scans internet traffic if thats what youre referring to.

not quite, in ESS thers already a web filter that does that, but wen packets are going through your firewall, does the AV section scan each of those packets to make sure thers no viruses before it gets onto your computer, so does the firewall and the AV communicate when something is being downloaded to ur system? or do they work separetly but are just provided in the same suite?

i forget wer this was posted, but it was somewer in the ESS forum

Wow, are you sure all modes arent off?
No firewall/antivirus alone can get that low.
