Just for information so I don't recommend anything you won't like anyway, why don't you want to use/like Keyscrambler?

Absolutely nothing wrong with KeyScrambler I use it and like it.

BUT, I try to keep an eye open for new ideas, things I might have missed.

I tried KeyScrambler here and he was not working properly. I believe he was only protecting the browser, and not the entire machine. And after some time, he was not showing any signs of protecting me from keyloggers.

At least, I think the version available for download on Mozilla was a simple version. I am not sure, but it might exist a paid (and all-functional) version.

Could someone confirm this?

 

They have 2 other versions, Premium- which covers all browser input (not just login), and Professional- which is Pro plus coverage for MS Office.

 

Yeah there are two paid versions. The free one encrypts your logins. The Pro encrypts everything on the browser level. And the Premium also works with other applications like Outlook and Office, etc...

 

. I like the pro version . It seems identity theft is what most security software companies go for as a selling point . keyscrambler seems very sensible in its approach to encrypt everything so that everything is gobblygook even if it was stolen .

 

I also think KeysSramblers approach is nice. Doing it this way you don't have to wory about 0-day keyloggers that may (or should I say will) be missed by most AV/AM programs.

 

GuardedID (http://www.guardedid.com) is a possible alternative to keyscrambler. Supports IE and FF.

 

GuardedID looks interesting. Anyone tried using it along-side KeyScrambler?

 

In terms of protecting you against keyloggers (regarding your entire environment), and print-screen-logs and other ways of stealing/capturing data, what is the best option these days?

I need to ask this question because I will seriously consider install the best option here, to prevent this from ever happening.

 

Hi Jim, the best overall option is a full blown HIPS (Host Intrustion Prevention System) that is aimed towards keylogging protection among it's other objectives.

I know COMODO Firewall Pro (Beta), Online Armor, ProSecurity, DefenseWall HIPS, and GeSWall take this into account and cover it extremely well.

KeyScrambler and the like are just an extra layer of protection for us paranoid users and control freaks

 

It seems to use the same concept as keyscrambler so i wouldn't think there would be any reason to run it alongside keyscrambler.

I wouldn't rely on KeyScrambler too much- if an Internet form may get your keyboard input, malware can do that job too (with using formgrabbing, for instance). "If it runs it can be defeated" (c) by ORC, remember it. Such the tools are strong in defense until they are not wildly spreaded.

 

Am I right in thinking that KeyScrambler only encrypts login details, and not credit card details, etc?

I did try it earlier and didn't like it. When I uninstalled it I found it still left many registry entries and also a file in System32/drivers folder which I had to manually delete.

The main thing I worry about is credit card details, and I have not yet managed to find a free program that covers this.

My login details in firefox are protected by a masterpassword anyway - is this not enough?

 

Hey, I agree with this. Keyscrambler is a pretty good program, i'll admit, but the reason I ended up getting rid of it is because unfortunately it only encrypts logins. I want something similar to KeyScrambler, but something that encrypts all keys, not just logins. As a matter of fact, encrypting logins is what I am least worried about. I would rather someone got my login details to a gaming forum I frequently visit then get the details about where I live, or what my social security number and/or credit card number is.... Also, about FF protecting your login details, isnt there a major bug that still exists where a simple exploit on a webpage (can't remember the exact details) can reveal all the logins saved in FF?

are just entered rather than typed.

The free version of keyscrambler only encrypts login details. I use the pro version which encrypts all keystrokes entered into the browser.

 

Am currently trying the very limited free version. Have to say the premium one is very expensive even at its current special offer price of $45. This makes it as dear as a full security suite.
Any reasonably priced alternatives out there.?
