On a laptop with XP Pro SP2. Sometimes, when trying to exit TI, I get a little dialog that says something like "Processing. Please wait while TI shuts down". It has a little revolving clock icon that keeps spinning. Once things get like this, TI never shuts down. It just stays that way. What is going on here?

    Hello whitedavidp,

Thank you for choosing Acronis Disk Backup Software.

First of all, please make sure that you use the latest build of Acronis True Image Home, which is available on our web site at http://www.acronis.com/homecomputing/support/updates/

If the problem is not eliminated by installing the latest build of the product please download and install the latest version of Acronis drivers with disabled logging. This should help you to overcome the issue.

If the issue still persists, please provide us with SnapAPI log file by doing the following:

1.Extract SnapAPI.dll from the downloaded zip file.

2.Replace C:\WINDOWS\system32\SnapAPI.dll with the extracted one

    3.Reproduce the problem

4.The log file will be created on the C:\ partition. The name of this file will be snapapi[date-time].log

After that please submit a request for technical support with the attached log and the link to this thread. We will do our best to help you as soon as possible.

    Thank you.

    Best Regards,
    Alexey Bogomolov

"Oh thanks alot", he said sarcastically...

I did exactly what you told me to do and now my scheduled backups will not run at all. I get logs like:

1 Information 10/26/2007 4:00:05 AM The "Daily Full Backup" operation started
2 Error 10/26/2007 4:00:09 AM Application module error
Cannot find the necessary Acronis True Image Home modules. Please reinstall Acronis True Image Home.: oK
3 Information 10/26/2007 7:39:00 AM Application module error
Cannot find the necessary Acronis True Image Home modules. Please reinstall Acronis True Image Home.: oK: User replied: oK
4 Error 10/26/2007 7:39:00 AM Operation has completed with errors.

Like a complete fool, I did not save the old dll and now I am hosed. I don't want to try and reinstall as I have had problems doing this (see my other posts). Can you send/point me to the CORRECT dll?

Ok, I re-ran the drivers install. Now my scheduled task runs but it sits there doing nothing. It says that the remaining time is 22 hours. This is just not right. I have been having troubles with this product from the get-go. Troubles getting a complete install, troubles getting my scheduled tasks to run, troubles getting the software to shut down. What can I do? This is VERY FRUSTRATING.

I and at least one other have confirmed that this problem results from having a USB external disk attached - but only if the disk is formatted NTFS. If the same drive is formatted FAT32, the problem goes away. I cannot say why this is true but there are other programs (virus scanners, defragmentors, etc) that suffer the same fate. I have found that reformatting the disk to FAT32 also fixes those problems. Good luck.
