Acronis True Image 8.0 and Vista

Hi,

I have Acronis True Image 8.0 and it works on my PC with no problems which is why I have not updated it.

I recently bought an HP laptop with Vista (which is working better than I expected after all the criticism) and would like to know if Acronis True Image 8.0 will work with it?

If not, does anyone know which version I need to upgrade to and how much it will cost?

The official version for Vista is 10, but I have used, as a test, the Rescue CD for version 9 and have made a successful backup and restore of Vista with it.

It took me days to set up my laptop because of all the progams that I have so I'm not very enthuiastic about doing a 'test'

I will check to see what an upgrade costs.

Even if you do get version 10 and make your Vista Backup, you still need to to a restore to a spare hard drive to make sure it will work. I know in the case of a laptop, buying a second hard drive is a sizable extra expense, but when it comes to True Image, the only way to be 100% sure a restore will work is to do one. Validation of a Backup Image, even if successful, is full of false positives.

If you do not do an actual restore, the second best way to safeguard yourself is to backup your data files using Windows Explorer to copy them to an external hard drive or burn them to optical media.
