Looks like Sandboxie version 2.86 works fine with Armor Free. I upgraded to the beta Sandboxie 3.02.25 and everything is working. Just very strange indeed!

No, I have been using geswall free 2.6 along OA free with no problems. But geswall was installed before OA!!
Anyway I will uninstall geswall and only use OA free and antivir premium ,because I think it is a lightweight ,tight security.Run safer in OA can replace geswall.
I am very happy with OA free so far.I have 186 programs installed and no conflicts yet.I only have 512 ram(old ram cannot upgrade) but this firewall is light and tight with HIPS.Thanks to the developers of this program. This was what I had been looking for a long time. Thanks from Turkey,İzmir.

    Cool, let us know

I'm using the first free version, and I'm liking it. I did have one weird MAJOR slowdown (lock) that lasted about a minute, but I did have a lot going on on my system at the time. Now that I think about it, I think Winpatrol was doing something at that moment (Scotty icon was in scan mode *puppy* during the lock)

    Thanks!

Build 18 went up with a fixed installer.

Regarding the problem with WP - can you make it a Trusted program. That should prevent it happening again

    Hi Mike!
may we ask what was particularly fixed in the installer?
    thanks! :)

Also is an over install needed at this time from build 17?

It fixed the "Installer crashes and annoys people who want to try OA Free" bug, primarily. The installer was not behaving consistently - that's now been fixed.

No, not needed at all. If 17 works great for you then life is gooooood :)

We will use the email alerting system if anything *really* needs to be installed.

I'm using 16 with no issues, so I didn't bother with 17 or 18. On a side note, that issue with ERUNT really was fixed by learning-mode, rebooted the next day, seen it when showing trusted processes so back into regular-mode and not a peep from either. This app. really is very adaptive, noticed the greyed-out portions of processes and programs after uninstallations. Very intuitive indeed! (To my wife, if you're lurkig about, this really would make a GREAT stocking-stuffer!!!)

    I'm running Build 16 and it's trouble-free for me.
Haven't been able to get the newer builds, but that's not an issue as I like what I have with this older build.

So far I like O.A. Free a lot!

If I break the habit of a lifetime and actually PAY for the full version, (with or without the A.V.) will I have to uninstall the freebie and if so are there ever any problems in an uninstallation?

I'd advise you to install over the top. But .. if you decide to uninstall OA first you should reboot twice. First time after uninstall (on demand) and the second time on your own. This is because OA drivers are only fully uninstalled after the second reboot. Though, I suspect uninstall in safe mode does not requre the second reboot.

Hi, folks: I was among those who praise Mike's smart move, and I certainly gave the product a good spin. But after three attempts within one week, I got same results: some apps' system tray dis-functioning, one app was rendered useless(SuperAdBlocker), some apps received error messages=can not write into memory....00xx00x etc. Each time, after OA was removed, everything was back to normal. Three times, same errors, and same good return(after OA was deleted). Please don't get me wrong, I do hold high respect for the excellent quality of his product and his version of making it a freeware, I just, just can not use it right now, pity and sorry.

    Hi Perman,

Wander over to the OA forums.. I'd be happy to give you access to beta and logging releases so we can solve this. Help us solve the problem and you can get a free copy of OA.

We're VERY serious about incompatibility issues.

    Mike

PS. A free copy of the FULL OA, that is :)

Every program that needs to display this style of file dialog

    2007-10-23_220201.png

(and a few other file listings built into the interface) asks for access to svchost. I don't remember any HIPS bothering me with this before. Any way to disable it?

Not specifically - but I will have someone take a look at this ASAP.

eg: When I start a program called Text Replacer I get this popup:

    2007-10-23_231.png

If I keep block the prompts ( 8 ) it will eventually open and I can click on the individual drives, but as soon as I click on My Computer in the list, it will start prompting again.

To be frank I don,t have an understanding of OLE but I can tell you that popups about OLE were so frequent with CFP V 2 that I disabled this filter( same experience with "windows messages" filter in CFP v 2 but not with NG).

CFP was just a FW, OA is a full HIPS so I can expect that it must give a lot more OLE attemp popups that CFP v2.
