Actually - your answer was right until I saw the export settings workaround, then I made it wrong :(

Don't know if I missed this in what is becoming a very long thread now, but is the AV part of OA KAV version 6 or 7o_O (I've used 6 but not 7 yet...)

Its the current KAV OEM engine, which is I recall is 5.x. The versioning on the AV product is different from the OEM engine, which is the part we use.

One problem I have run into though, is that OAFree conflicts with Erunt. Erunt basically just creates an image of the registry, for the purpose of restoring the reg. I run it manually, OA pops up and I put it on the allowed-list. Works great 'til the next day when I boot into Windows (I dual-boot) and Erunt goes to create its daily restore-point. I get a Windows pop-up informing me of Erunt failure but nothing from OAo_O I open OA-gui and Erunt is in the allowed list but it shows in history that it was blockedo_O

It could be that the program was allowed to run , but missing some more permission. You could wander over to the OA forums and get 1-2-1 support there if you need it.

Also, you might like to try to put OA into learning mode - then reboot - so it can learn the necessary permissions required for erunt... then, if you take OA back into Standard mode - all should be well.

I knew it would be my fault and not OA's. I thought it was in learning mode because it asked the questions for permissions. Thanks Mike. Your quick response has renewed my faith in OA and taught me that I'M A DUNCE! Honest...I'm not being sarcastic, this is the best laugh I've had in a while and at my own expense!!! roflol

Hm, did you test it to see whether my suggestion actually solved it? The joke could still be on me :)

Regarding the loopback rule (for proxomitron)
Mike, can you confirm that it is now available in the just released OA free version? Thanks.

Later ...... I re-installed OA and in the meantime received three activation keys in the mail!

Oddly OA free now works without an activation key being asked for or inserted.

It might be an idea to tell users that the firewall is not activated on install, but has to be initialised by visiting the "Firewall" tab and clicking "install firewall" button.

So far there seems no perceptible slow down in browsing, so I'll give it a good workout now!

    Thanks Mike & team:)

Good good... WE just fixed something in the installer to avoid this issue - so sorry for the bother, and I hope you're enjoying it.

    Hi Mike,

I have been following this thread with much interest, and it is great to see a developer taking so much time to answer and respond to the users questions. Very rare indeed to see - but I like it!

However, I cannot get Online Armor free to register, even after the modified installer correction. I have nothing enabled on my box that should be interfering with the registration. This is the same error that others have been getting. What do you advise?

If you write an e-mail address the key is sent by e-mail

The key is always sent by mail if you pop in an email address; OA does require an internet connection to be able to activate. Also, keys cannot be shared between OA Free and OA Full...

We're updating the website next week to try and get it to catch up with where we're at. We decided to do OA Free last week, it's out this week :) So a few backend things need to be sorted out.

    Cheers

    Mike

So far OA free is working very well for me, with Avast! free, COMODO BOclean, COMODO memory guardian, and Super Antispyware Real time protection enabled.

It is very refreshing to see decent sized rule pop-ups, written in clear and simple terms. Perhaps a nomination for awards in the "Plain English Campaign" ? ;)

Actually the only gripe  I have is the product name - ARMOR instead of ARMOUR!

Apologies to those who are not native English speakers. :D :D :D
