    Hi,

I was merging the system partition with another one when the Disk Director reported some sector writing errors, which I ignored from the options given, and when the process seemed finished, the system became completely unbootable.

I have had to start from scratch and install windows again.

    What did I do wrong?

    thanks.

Have you run chkdsk /r on all the partitions on the drive?
(chkdsk c: /r for the C: drive, chkdsk d: /r for the D: drive, etc.)

There may be bad sectors on the drive. If there are, they will probably cause problems later if not fixed.

I think Acronis is broken. New versions of TrueImage can't back up files & folders, and I just broke my MBR deleting a partition and re-sizing another.

    Get it TOGETHER people!

I agree - checkdisk /r then let the Vista CD try to fix the boot problem is definitely something to try.

I'm definitely not happy with DD10 - ever since I installed the update inside Vista I can't boot with DD10 installed (works if I uninstall then restore the MBR though).
